Duplicating Items

This is probably a really dumb question, but I cannot figure out how to duplicate items! I'm trying to build the school right now. I've tried holding down L and tapping the item, then holding down R and tapping the item but I just can't figure it out. Am I doing it wrong? And yes, both of my L and R buttons work; I am able to take pictures and such. So I'm not sure why it isn't working for me.

Perhaps you need to hold both and then tap it?

I'm not sure, I don't have the game til next week but thats the only solution I can think of.

Okay seriously it doesn't work for me either I was like wth is wrong with me

But I'm glad I'm not the only one

Even tapping the item and then pressing L or R didn't work for me
Then I tried highlighting the item and tapping L/R and that didn't work either

What I do is press L, and hold it. Then I just quickly the tap the button. It's always worked ever since

Were you informed that you now have the ability to duplicate?
Just checking ... Lol ... I kept trying to do it because I had seen it on the videos but I couldn't make it work until I was told I could now use the feature. It works slick when you are able ... Place item you want on floor ...hold down L button and tap item, you will hear the pop pop pop noise as it multiplies

I press L and then hold it down completely. Then I tap the item I want to dupe. It works for me! Perhaps you have to wait until you get that far in the tutorial, if you haven't already.
