Duping

I never really knew why it was against the rules until I bought a buttload of flowers and NONE of them would breed, it sucks tbh. Anyone else had this happen? I also have a few questions because I'm worried that a lot of things I bought from this person (furniture, flowers, etc) are duped.

Do duped items increase the chances of your game file corrupting? (That anyone knows of or is had happen to them)
Can duped items disappear?
and is it ok to give villagers duped items or will they just disappear or something?

Long story short I bought about 30 rose sofas to give to all my girl villagers for their houses and my museum exhibits so that's why I'm curious about the villager thing.

Answers to your questions:

1st one- No. What DOES increase your chances of your game corrupting is hacking it yourself, receiving items to which can hack your game, or turning it off/clam-shelling it while it's saving.
2nd one- No, it disappears under the conditions of any other item (Sell it, restart, etc.)
3rd one-It is okay, they'll take it like they take any other item. (Items may or may not be displayed, remember!)

Also, your hybrids SHOULD breed if they're duped. (Trust me, I know) If your hybrids do not breed, they are HACKED, not DUPED. Always make sure to check if hybrids are hacked before you buy them.

I'm not sure why your flowers arn't breeding, but I doubt it was because they were duped. Anyone who has bought or traded items probably has lots of duped stuff. I personally don't dupe, but I know that my rare furniture, clovers, and lots of other things came from players who duped them. They haven't hurt my games. ( knock on wood). I wouldn't worry about it. Keep watering those flowers. I'm sure you will get some hybrids soon.

There's a pretty big debate on if duped flowers can breed or not.
However, coming from a programmer's standpoint, there would be no way to write in an entirely new entity with it's own properties on EVERYONE'S devices. So likely, it's just one snip of code going from here....

Coming from a duper, there have been no file corruptions, errors, glitched etc., with duped items. They do indeed breed if they're duplicated, but not if hacked, as the other people in this thread said.

Okay yeah see I was unaware that you could "hack" things into the game too so maybe they're hacked.
Considering I've bought from those stores, you know where they dont put specific number amounts on items because they can dupe them? I'm believeing you're all right about duped flowers breeding bc all of my hybrids I've ever bought have breeded before these

duping you can do in-game easily and fast, duplicating an item you already have.
Hacking, however, requires you to put something on your SD card and can allow you to edit just about anything, including removing rocks, stumps wherever, effortless item placement, villiager placing, etc.

I'd rather pay more for honest breeding rather than duped items tbh. Is it true that duped flowers can't be bred because that would really suck! :/

what flowers are you trying to breed?
people can play the game for a super long time having never traded flowers at all, and still be unable to breed a blue rose, or a purple pansy, for instance...

I don't know about people not putting specific prices from items just because the items are hacked/duped. I'm just new here and don't have a proper feel for how much something should sell for and as such tend to let people make offers. Some newer people like me want to try to get an item for less than I pay for them to order from the catalog and some older players can offer insane amounts of IGB for something that costs next to nothing.
