Dumb things I do while playing: agree to wait an hour to visit an animal or have them visit me. I almost always regret it, as I can't play as a different character (or I'll forget about the appointment) or spend a long time on the island as I wait.
This, mostly because I always end up forgetting about it and then they get mad at me. ;_;

A dumb thing one of my friends did was eat their first perfect native fruit. They never got a perfect fruit ever since. I was laughing my butt off when it happened.

I remember selling the first perfect fruit I ever got, I didn't realize what it was until afterwards. Took a year for me to get another one :/

I forget not to run and I end up trampling flowers, scaring away expensive beetles/fish, and just making a mess of my new town.

I kind of just started (like 3 weeks ago) and I got perfect fruit from the beginning. I sold my first one (though the different color was normal) and another one spawned. Now I have tons of perfect fruit. I have more perfect fruit trees than regular trees I think.

When I fish I constantly have the fastest thumb in Kentucky. I am usually very good at fishing and ace Kahuna Tour and Shark Battle Tours, but sometimes I just have a twitchy thumb and keep hitting the "A" button and losing the fish! Then I say a bad word out loud and startle my aunt or husband, who can't understand why it bothers me so much.
I also forget that while I'm wearing a wetsuit to not try to scare away small fish in the water with my net. I keep accidentally diving into the ocean and then I have to slog my way back out.
Oh, and I kick up my paths CONSTANTLY. ARGH!

This! it's especially bad when you have so many types of paths that you have them saved across three different characters. Often times when I'm done playing I need to switch to one or two other people just to repair the damage I've caused.

Buying clothes before trying them on or buying wallpaper/carpets before seeing what they look like then having to reset because I am not willing to spend 240 bells on something I did not try on.

Started playing. Sold perfect apple.
Waited five weeks. Got another perfect apple. Sold it as well.
Waited six months. Got another perfect apple. Planted it. Bought fertilizer. Tried to dig hole next to sapling. Dug sapling up.
Waited two months. Still waiting for next perfect apple.
Also I sell my tools so often I now keep duplicate copies in my house so I am never a week without a shovel again.
When I try to pick something up or fixing paths on a mule character but I end up erasing another path and have to load my other character to fix it
And then when I'm holding my net and want to talk to villagers but I just end up hitting them with it
