dumb question about getting villagers when you start

Okay, dumb question. I plan on restarting my New Leaf game soon, and I know you start with 5 villagers but can have a max of ten. Am I able to start moving villagers right from the get-go via amiibo cards, visiting friends, etc.?

Yeah, you can, but you need to find Wisp in your town first with the magic lamp before using amiibo. But you can find someone to move in on your first day of move in (I think). At least I know you can for sure on the second day.

Judging by what I know and read, you can indeed invite villagers into your town and also Amiibo villagers if you have the magic lamp.

- Correction -​

After checking a bit more, it seems if your house is not complete ( is still a tent ) you cannot invite any villagers! Then again I’ve never done it before, I’m sorry for the troubles.
