I haven't seen one of these around the forums so I though I'd make one!
Please don't feel that you have to have dreamies, this guide is only if you do. And don't forget that no matter how valued Tier 1 and 2 villagers seem to be, you can use whatever villagers you like! For instance, my ultimate dreamie is Agnes, who is in Tier 5.
Obtaining your dreamies
Many of you who are struggling to collect your dreamies together will be surprised to know that this is the easy bit. The harder part comes later when you have to stop them from moving. There are many ways to collect your dreamies. You can buy them from the Villager Trading Plaza here or on another site, you can convince them to move in from your campsite, you can simply move them from one town to another, or you can plot reset.
Getting your dreamies from this site or another
Posting on a cycling thread or on the Looking For thread is the easiest way, but the least effective. What did you say?? You have MARSHAL? Oh goody, dreamie time! Just post a trading thread for Marshal and whatever dreamie you want and people will cycle for days to get your dreamie so they can have Marshal. Just be careful when doing this, most people on this forum are unlikely to scam you but it isn't impossible. Alternatively you could hold an auction to get enough money to buy your dreamie quite easily from here! What people will do for a high tier villager...
Moving dreamies in from your campsite
I'll do a step by step guide on this:
1. Check if there is a camper in your town.
2. If you have room for another villager, see who's inside. If not, STEP AWAY! You'll only upset yourself if there's a dreamie inside the tent/igloo.
3. If there is a non-dreamie inside, step out. If there is a dreamie inside, fill your pockets up with bells, and talk to them. Eventually they will consider moving to your town.
Moving from one town to another
Easy peasy. Just check you have room for the dreamie and you don't already have them, then go to the host's town, talk to the villager and invite them to your town. See, easy.
Plot resetting
This is the one most people aren't familiar with. It's particularly good if you don't care where your dreamie's houses go. Make a new file and prepare to plot reset as usual every day, even if you haven't invited anyone in. Look for a plot. If there is one, check to see if it is a dreamie. If it is a dreamie, quit without saving, and log on to your mayor. If it isn't a dreamie, quit without saving, and and start another new file. Not only will the plot change, the villager will also change. Repeat the steps above until you are satisfied.
Keeping your dreamies
Okay, so you've got all your dreamies and now you need to keep them in your town. Talk to your villagers. They will notify you if someone is moving. If you are on hiatus for a white make a note of the last time you played so you can TT to that date when you want to play again. Apart from that, there's no real trick to keeping your villagers inside your town. But wait. Do you HAVE to have the same villagers all the time? Can't you switch you the ones you're not fussed about. The answer is, you absolutely can. Apart from the pain of getting them and plot resetting for them then it's no harm at all. And you have a brand new villager. I'd recommend at least getting their picture before you let them go.
The villager line
This is the most important bit in the guide. Your tenth villager will not move out until another villagera has moved out first. In other words, if you have nine dreamies then you get a voided tenth villager, then you'll have to either keep the voided villager or move out a dreamie. To avoid this, try ordering your villagers. Make sure you obtain your ultimate dreamie last, and you'll be safe from losing that villager. Another idea is to stay in the same day once you obtain your ninth dreamie until you obtain your tenth.
Thanks for reading all this and like I said at the beginning, please don't feel like you have to have high tier dreamies or even have dreamies at all!

I'll add the bit about plot resetting, I personally have never done it before.
