I am the only one who finds these towns super creepy? I am aiming to get all the badges but I have a hard time getting the dream suit badge for visiting the towns. They really freak me out, the town is like full of zombies practically, plus you see them wandering but the town itself feels deserted and eerie. I can't be the only one who feels these towns are super creepy.

What is the purpose of these towns? I mean what do you do in them exactly? Just wander around the creepy sleepy village with everything closed? I really don't understand the purpose. You can't order anything, the towns are silent practically, the villagers are creepy... Is it just to get the patterns and idea for the village?? Sort of like a town version of the streetpass houses?

I get maybe the inspiration, but all of the towns I have visited look the same almost. Plus I am always so uncomfortable and feel like I went into the twilight zone. When that anteater thing asks if I had a good sleep I always say not really, haha it's just super unsettling to me for some reason.

I guess I could see the inspiration side of it. I haven't found one that really wowed me and shook that unsettling zombie land feeling yet.

I think dream towns are for players to show off what they've accomplished in their towns more than anything else.I don't think they're creepy....boring and a bit dull, yes(unfortunately,my towns probably fall into that category)but creepy,no.I use them mostly to see prospective villagers and to chop down all of the bamboo whenever I see it.

i get the feeling of twilight zone lol, but i love it!! it's super nice and relaxing and adds to the exploring feel :>

I think they look eerie too, even when they're not horror towns. It just feels so deserted and the villagers don't talk much.

The point of dream towns is to let people see what each other's towns look like, without people having to let strangers into their towns or without you being unable to visit the towns of people you don't know. It's a good way to see what other people do with their towns if you want some inspiration or if you're just nosy.

I like to visit dream towns because I can't possibly have all kinds of different themes and villagers in my town, so I enjoy meeting villagers who haven't been in my town yet and see how people like to decorate their towns. It's also fun to be able to chop things down or run in fields of flowers without worrying about ruining anything. Some dream towns also have fun gimmicks like being a gigantic interactive story or placing items you can interact with everywhere. :) There are also people who put qr patterns up in their towns so that visitors can get them from the walrus.

It's probably because certain themes are villagers are so popular. Maybe you could try to find towns that have unusual themes or themes you'd be interested in, or that have villagers you'd like to meet!

I think that if you tell Luna (she's a tapir, by the way) that you didn't like the town, it gives that town a bad rating and I've heard this can lead to that town being flagged to be deleted because of being inappropriate or something. I can't remember the exact dialogue options you get and I don't know if it's true, so I could be wrong.

I usually will enter in dream addresses of ones people recommend on here, or I'll just google one and go. If you "leave it up to her" I almost always get a really new town with almost no landscaping. I like to see how towns and houses are arranged. I'll also go if there's a villager I want, I'll meet them, hear their jingle, see how their face moves, what their house looks like, etc. before I put them on my dreamie list. Sometimes I'll end up loving villagers I'd never even thought about, just from their picture, because I loved them in a dream.

I agree! I thought I was the only one. I don't mind looking at tumblr images for town inspiration, but going to dream towns... I find them oddly creepy. I've only been to three or four because of it...

I am glad I am not the only one who finds them eerie. I agree with looking on tumblr or even pintrest has a few. I do go to the towns but I leave almost as soon as I get there most of the time. I really want all the badges but that one is definitely a challenge to me. Maybe I'll adjust to them?

I like to just visit other peoples towns and play online to see other villagers I may not have, plus then they actually talk and so do my friends I play online with. Plus I get to see others towns, and I love having people visit my town. Although I guess dream towns are lower risk.

It's definitely eerie, I'm not doing a whole ton of visiting until those are my last badges I need!
It's honestly more boring than anything though, unless it's just an amazing town with a really original layout/theme, which I've yet to come across.

Like someone else said above me, it's more for showing off what you've accomplished so far.
Some people should be proud, I've seen some town with a ton of effort put in. But the eeriness dulls even the greatest of towns down. It's a bummer really.

I can see the enjoyment some people get out of it when they're on a hunt for inspiration. If you're really in need I imagine it'd be nice to take a break from your own town duties and layout and wander through someone else's to give you those new ideas you need.

I love visiting dream towns, but I can understand how it can seem eerie or boring with all the same villagers and pastel themes. I think the time really affects the way you perceive the town because of the hourly music and position of the Sun. I find the piano descending the scale in the 6pm theme (I would imagine many upload at this time because sunset + illuminated PWP) to be a bit unnerving while the 1AM music fits the late night atmosphere.
