I really hope I don't sounds rude, but don't dirt paths just 'disappear' when it snows? (The grass regrows under it causing your hard work to be for nothing?) Or am I mistaken. I really like dirt paths but if this is the case I would never have them. HOWEVER, if they don't disappear with snow I would probably make some around my campsite!
Yes, this is the case. Although they don't instantly disappear, cos it's not like they get instantly covered by the snow on December 10th or anything. But in my experience they certainly went away faster in winter than during the rest of the year. It's likely the big snowstorms are what make the paths disappear so quickly.
While it's true that winter completely healed my dirt paths back into grass, it was a natural process and watching the progress of it wearing back down into a path through the spring has been enjoyable. It depends on the individual whether it's that worth decorating using dirt paths, or if it is hard work at all (which it isn't if you actually
use them as real thoroughfares around town).
Some picture spam
A pic from August of a path I use daily.
A wider section starting to go about 10 days after the snow in December.
I wasn't complaining that it was disappearing, but that it looked hecka weird
Starting to come back (to the right) in May.
Comes back faster or slower depending how often you play.
I'm gonna be biased and suggest my friend's dream town, but she has some really great examples of dirt paths in different settings (wide main paths and adorable side paths):

Some of you probably already know her town from Tumblr or Wordpress ^^;
