Ok so I want to add my island but I want to know some things first
My island needs work. Can I update the version that people can visit as I make progress on my island?
Do I need to leave tools for visitors?
will I know if people have visited?

yea... you can update. it's only once per in game day. i changed it from day to night.


edit: you just have to sleep in the bed and save over it.

Visitors can’t bring tools. You can pick up shells but not sure if you can pick up and use dropped tools

a friend visited an island with handheld items like sparklers and clothes all worked. also wet suits and diving works too if you leave a wetsuit for them.

I am also wondering something regarding visiting other people's islands in New Horizons... If someone were to say leave a DIY recipe on the ground, and it was a recipe someone didn't have... would the visitor be able to learn the recipe for that DIY or is that not possible?

i’m assuming that wouldn’t be possible since you’re not actually visiting someone’s island, you’re just dreaming - it’s like how in new leaf, if you visited someone’s dream town and say, trampled all their flowers, their flowers wouldn’t actually be trampled in their own game since it was just a dream, so i think it’s safe to assume that it’s the same for new horizons - anything that occurs or is obtained on someone’s island while dreaming won’t be permanent and can’t be brought with you once you ‘wake up’

i pick up diys and shook trees to grab fruits at the gf's place but when i return home none of the items came back.

yep everything you do in the dream disappears once you wake up. Pretty much like how a real dream works since anything you do in the dream won't transfer over to real life. If it did it would be kinda exploitable

if the person who uploaded the dream didn't make any custom designs themselves, then the custom design portal won't show up. Unfortunately you won't be able to see the custom designs they downloaded from others, only the ones that they made themselves

I figure this was the case. The Dream Address is on the passport instead of the creator code now. But it's nice that you can get custom designs without Ables being open.

How permanent is one dream adress? I think in new leaf it was 1 month before the dream expired. I'm curious how often I need to lie down in bed to update minimum.

My guess is that once you have uploaded your dream, it will be there forever until you upload a new one to overwrite your previous dream. Since there is an option to delete the dream, I doubt your dream will expire

I just wish you could have a ladder and maybe, a pole. I mean, because of the incline limit, there's probably a lot of places that you cannot reach on other people's island without them.

I just wish you could have a ladder and maybe, a pole. I mean, because of the incline limit, there's probably a lot of places that you cannot reach on other people's island without them.

I kinda like that part of it though. It makes people think about designing their island to give a new touring experience. I see a lot of screenshots where it only looks good from that one angle.

I have some areas I make inaccessable on purpose as well like my front entrance. There's a moon and some flowers and trees. Nothing interesting.
