I am not done but any suggestions on what to improve. I use gimp 2.2

Either get a smoother render, or try to manually smooth it.

Also I'd reccomend puttion the text layer on "soft light" and st it's text style to Smooth or strong (I'm not sure if you can do this in GIMP, but you can in Photoshop).

And lastly, on a new layer (above the background but below everything else) do some low opacity brushing.

Try to put a gradient in the text, too. The text throws off the balance.
