Don't you think we should've gotten the Japanese keyboard as well?(Language Barrier)

I bet if there was actually a chat like the Wii Speak feature, the keyboard issue would not be occurring.

Nintendo of America loves to assume that any average player in America who are going to play ACNL won't speak in any other language than English, French and Spanish, so they decided to cut out multiregional keyboards. Remember, they're mostly aiming to average gamers, so...

Also, the Japanese version of ACNL doesn't convert a set of hiragana characters into kanjis. That flaw make Japanese messages a bit harder to read for some because it takes a longer while to interpret the kanji that a certain set of hiraganas are actually expressing. That also render the particles harder to locate. One Japanese fellow can possibly struggle reading messages because the bubble chats in this game disappear too fast, unless if they're using BF chat (it has a log that keep a certain portion of discussion).

I hope a lot of Japanese understand Romaji then... :x I have no clue if a good portion do or not though... Luckily the Japanese I played with either spoke English or didn't speak at all (I mean... it'd be cool to try to understand despite language difference but... Sometimes it's just less awkward to stay quiet if the person isn't friendly AND doesn't speak your language XD).

almost every japanese player I met speaks at least a little english even if its very rusty, but I actually would kinda like it if i had a japanese keyboard in the game

STILL not answering the question. Is there a big enough demand?

I don't really see what a demand has to do with it. It's just odd it was taken out/ replaced in the game. It's really awkward for me having a japanese person asking me a question where I can understand him perfectly but 9/10 the other person doesn't read romaji or knows very little english to communicate.

Oh man, I am quite sorry if I am bringing up an old thread. This thread is what made me find this forum. I believe that Nintendo should have included the Japanese Kana regardless of device region. Nintendo is, after all, a Japanese company. I was so upset when half of the Japanese people I communicated with didn't know romaji, and I'm like, "Where's the Kana!?" =( It's hard to tell someone you understand what they are saying, and yet they don't understand a single word you say. >_<

I wish I could change my games language to japanese. Only the language not the region or whatever. I just wanted to practice while playing. :C

Sure, let's also have the Korean keyboard and the Russian keyboard while we're at it.

I don't see why we need the Japanese keyboard. Sure, it'd be nice for the people who play the game in Japanese, but I don't think there's that much of a demand to justify it.

I agree. I doubt that a lot of people would even use it tbh.

I'd love to have this as well. I have an NA 3DS so fat chance I'll have the chance to play an ACNL in Japanese.

A Japanese keyboard would be lovely for trading with Japanese players.

I would love to have it, I'd probably use it more than the English one //cuz im a weaboo yee

It would be nice to have a Japanese keyboard. But often times, English-translated games don't have keyboards that span across towards Asia. It would have saved me some confusion if there was a J-keyboard though lol

Is there enough demand to justify having the Japanese keyboard in the NA or EU versions of the game?

Well, there seems to be an awful lot of demand for a Japanese keyboard.
That purchasable keyboard seems like a good idea. Maybe for a number of PlayCoins we could purchase a language keyboard?

Count me in as another who'd like the ability to use Japanese characters. I already resorted to importing a Japanese 3DSLL (hate region lock HATE IT) so I could play Terry's Wonderland; I thought about getting a JP copy of ACNL but I'm too invested in my current town to restart everything from scratch just so I can talk to people.

yes we need this and we also need that heart symbol on the keyboard as well :// i can't even make my favorite lyrics my cathphrase i had to do 'love a star thats been broken' instead of 'love a heart that is broken' because guess what we can't use <3 because numbers aren't allowed
:^)

I don't see any harm in having a Japanese keyboard epically seeing how the original DS had one already built into it.

Yeah I found it weird that there's no heart symbol too.
