No, I really enjoyed it when they suggested something I didn't want.

Yes. I disliked it, but it's easy to get what you want.

Have no bells on you. (Nobody can try to sell you anything.)
Have an inventory full of shells. (Nobody will try to buy them from you.)

Sneak past the villagers you don't want PWP's from, and walk or run by the one(s) you do.

They should ping you for a PWP.
If not, turn off without saving, and do it again.

I got every PWP I wanted, one after the other this way.

I know it's disappointing when you're trying to get a certain one, but I'm generally happy about any PWP suggestion. It's good to have the option unlocked. And it reduces the number of PWPs they can suggest next time.

But hopefully you'll get the jungle gym suggested next time. Good luck!

Yeah, Nate suggested that to me the other day and I'm just thinking "why?" The good thing is I do the wetsuit trick so I get a suggestion literally every day.

Even if it's not the one you want, at least it narrows down the options until the next PWP he suggests. It took a long time getting a jock villager to suggest the instrument shelter because he would have his mind on literally everything else, but I'm pretty patient.

You could always time travel to the next day and hound him again

Yep it kinda annoys me too, but I’m going to unlock those useless PWPs soon or later so why not just get it out of the way now it just means that you’re one PWP closer to the ones you want

It's annoying, but it limits the amount of pwps they can ask you for, allowing you to find the one you want in the near future! I also like to collect the choices of having it before adding any pwps so I'm good XD Havent had anyone ask for anything yet though.

YES omg it's so annoying
i really wanted the wooden bridge, so I kept doing the diving trick and talking to my cranky villagers. not only did i unlock every other cranky PWP first, i had to go through all the 'can be suggested by anyone' ones too. it took me about a month in total.
though on the bright side, i have a load of other PWPs unlocked now!! the way i see it, every crappy suggestion is one closer to the ones you want B)

I recall having a pretty difficult time getting my hands on the fairy-tale bridge suggestion in my old town.

"So, Mayor, I was thinking..."

On the one site, I'm annoyed when my villagers suggest me a PWP I don't need. On the
other site, I'm kinda happy if they suggest me something at all since it takes forever till
someone suggest a PWP instead of just asking me for a new catchphrase or so.

It's pretty easy to get 1 PWP a day, there's only 97 (counting the main street PWPs and stuff like The Roost and Reset Center) so it doesn't take terribly long to get them all.

I've been trying to get Limberg to request a Wooden Bridge but he never wants to ping me...

I've been doing the diving trick for months and still no luck sigh.

It's really annoying, but at least you don't have to worry about them asking for it again and it's better than them not requesting anything at all...because I had that multiple times..
