I denied Felicity my Oarfish today because all she offered was a sweater I already had cataloged. I have no regrets about that decision.

I don't often refuse trades, I try to make sure my pockets are empty when I walk around town so they can't ask for my fish, dino parts, etc. If your friendship level with them is good they don't get upset, they go 'ok, my trade wasn't fair anyway', or maybe next time then'. Obviously I need to work on my friendship with Marshall, I haven't had him for that long.
