donations and coffee?

Two things I haven't found any point in so far is donating to the civic center for that other town, and the 200 bell coffee in the coffee shop. Does either of these have any purpose?

When you donate a certain amout of money, you get a special item that you can't get anywhere else.

As for the coffee, it's just to drink.

donate 10k, and you get a green feather. it acts like a hat. 200k, and you get a blue one, I forget the rest of the amounts...

Yes, donate a cumulative total of 200,000 to get the Blue Feather, etc.
