ive been struggling to get pwp's. ive gotten three so far, the police station, metal bench, and the fire pit. I empty my pockets of any items and instead fill them with bells, but whenever someone pings me its always asking to change their catchphrase, if at all, and i can never seem to get them to ping me in the first place. also my uchi villager is literally never there, shes either inside or just missing. any advice? i think ill get a wetsuit and try the diving trick, but does it really reset the dialogue? thank you

I honestly have no idea. I go diving and fill my pockets with flowers and none of my villagers seem to care about me I get no pings but as soon as I give up and put the flowers back they're all like, hey you wanna buy this? -.-
But it has worked sometimes for me so I don't know. I'm struggling to get to police station and whenever they do suggest something, it's like something ridiculous that I just would not put in my town.

It almost always works for me.
Sometimes I have to go back into the lonely corner of the ocean for another few minutes but usually I get someone to ping me.

I've been using Mira to get the rest of my PWPs since I didn't have an Uchi and she was my last dreamie. I load and S/Q until she's outside and then trap her (carefully, so she doesn't get mad) and then do the diving trick. I'll trap one other one too that I wouldn't mind getting a PWP from and go sit in the ocean for 5ish minutes, and then go to them. Almost always one of the two will ping me, and if they don't someone else wandering around my town will. Sometimes it takes a while to get a PWP though, I empty everything and fill my pockets with flowers

All the diving trick really guarantees is that you get more pings from villagers. The more pings you get from villagers, the more chances you have at one of those pings being a PWP! Sometimes I have gone hours without a PWP request and other times I have gotten a few PWP requests within an hour from this trick. It's still partially luck based ^^.

It works to get villagers to ping you, but you have to try a few times to get a PWP ping!
Basically, what Zandy said. c:

I works a lot. fill your pockets with coins. go to the complete edge of the waters. wait 3-5 mins. go back and walk in front of your villagers. wait for the ping. if someone pings you with PWP horaay! if it's other things... save quit... and do it all over again :)

As I understand it, the reason it works and increases pings is because you've been out of sight and not talked to anyone for a length of time. If a villager is wandering on your beach, it can throw off the results, but I've generally found the technique to be successful. It's not always a ping for a PWP, but it definitely increases the pingage.

Love the idea of trapping villagers! The trick is reaching them before you're spotted by anyone else!

It's honestly all about patience. The diving trick does get you more pings, but it's not guaranteed to be for a PWP. It's really time consuming for me personally, so I don't do it too much, but I've gotten at least 5 PWP requests from doing it

do you have to save and quit after each ping if its not a pwp?

No you don't, just go back into the water and wait another 5 minutes or so and you should get another ping

It ways works for me, but I think that there's a maximum amount to how much times in a day they can suggest a public works project
