I really want to increase my friendship points with animals, but I noticed that they are throwing away their nice furniture to display the random crap that I give them. Ankha, why don't you want to keep that golden toilet??
Also, how do I make sure they wear the stuff I send? Sometimes I see it, but most of the time they wear it for the first day and never again.
I honestly don't really mind if my villagers don't have 100% original houses and sometimes I give them cute stuff on purpose hoping they'll use it! It only upsets me when they replace stuff with bugs and fish, which I give them because I feel bad turning down their requests
In case of the original villagers, I wish they would finally get rid of their lame generic interior. But no, they'd rather put out a second bed instead of. Exchanging. The. Old. One!
i love giving my villagers cute clothing and they always end up ruining their house with it instead of wearing it

It shouldn't, but it does, I like that they want to show off their presents, and they love them, but their house goes from perfectly furnished done by interior designer to hoarder status real quick.
I noticed that if the shirt/dress you give the villager isn't their style, they'll display it in their house first. However, if you give them another furniture item that takes up one space, there is a chance that the shirt will get replaced with the furniture item.
After that, the shirt will be stored in the closet and the villager will wear it more often.
However, be aware that there is a weird glitch happening right now where the item you gift the villager might have a chance of being duplicated when displayed in their house.
Nope, doesn't bother me at all, I never cared so much about the villager houses. And besides, if they throw away all their good stuff, I can get it for me then.
Bothers me a lot with the villagers that have nice homes, but it toned down in NH than NL. It bothered me even more in acnl when my favorites dump mismatched furniture in their houses, so I had to find a small table item for them.
Doesn't bother me, I thought the point of this mechanic was so that we could essentially decorate their houses for them. Just don't give them lame furniture if you're already happy with their house, fruit and shells and stuff they don't display in their house as far as I've seen!
I give them things that match their original aesthetic. I just wish I could get my starters to replace their furniture. Canberra won't get rid of her woodenblock radio or dresser and they're in the kiddie set colours, just looks so bad. I've been gifting her ironwood furniture and other and those 2 big pieces just stick out like sore thumbs.
if they're dreamies of mine, i don't really mind since i'm not giving them away to anyone. if i were you, i would just gift them back the furniture that they're getting rid of and hope that they put it back in
I dont mind it if the replacement pieces suit their houses, in fact i enjoy looking for furniture that goes well with their interiors, but i mostly give them things that can be put on tables since i find them easier to replace later on.
I dont know how they pick the clothes they wear. Like you said sometimes they only wear the thing once and then never again, but other times they never take it off. Maybe it has to do with the color/style? according to the guide every villager has like 2 favorites of each.
kind of. if i’m keeping them, i don’t mind as much but if i plan on selling/giving them away, i’d like for them to stay as original as possible as i know some people prefer that
