Does grass become more pixelated occasionally?

I've noticed that at certain times of the day, namely dusk and night, the grass texture loses some of its sharpness and becomes kind of pixelated. Am I crazy?

i've mainly noticed that the grass kinda separates into squares, almost as if all the grass was placed as a pattern.

I have seen this a couple of times as well.

Whoa, I'm not crazy.
I assume the game does this to keep a max framerate when things like dynamic day changing and fireworks are going on.
