Does gifting a starter (3-plots) villager to a friend reset his/her house?

I gifted Paolo to my daughter yesterday by releasing him via amiibo. She came to my island and invited him to her island. We assumed he would take his starter house with him, but today his wallpaper and flooring reflect that he's unpacking his real house. Is this true? I thought gifted villagers arrived to their new islands with all their former baggage in tow. TIA!

Villagers with the original starter house will get their normal house when they move to a new island c:

Starter houses at the exception. I believe they still leave with any clothing you might have gifted them. If you gifted furniture, I think they might also take it with them and will display it if there's a valid marker for it to be displayed in their default house

I can also confirm that starter villagers reverts back to their original interior when moved to another island as I "gifted" my starter villager Dom to my daughter and moved him to her island.

This such good news! DD's starter Sisterly was Cherry. She really wants Cherry's real house. So, with a little careful planning with amiibos and time, we should be able to gift Cherry to my island and then back to hers?

Yes, you can move the "starter" Cherry to your island (she'll go back to her original) then back to your daughter so she could finally enjoy the 'original" Cherry. Make sure you don't give a gift or give the villager anything.
