I seem to remember reading somewhere that fall starts September 1st 
But I think the process of trees and grass turning brown takes a couple of days (but please correct me if I’m wrong).
I’m so excited for summer to be over and these danged cicadas to be gone...

It does and with that Acorns and Pinecones will now be found from trees. Helping you craft all new DIYs.
Mushrooms and Maple Leafs come November.
Although the trees will change colors, you won't get a autumn orange until October and a dark fall red until November. Its dull yellow for September.

Outside the game, I want it to be winter so there will be less bugs. In the game, I do want the winter stuff more, but the fall stuff has been growing on me so much that I finally caved in and bought a bunch of mush furniture. It’s funny because a month ago, I thought I didn’t like the set. But from seeing so many amazing entries in the summer contests and the tbt fair using the fall furniture, the set has finally grown on me. I’m really hoping for a harvest festival this fall partly because i missed it in NL and the rest because i want more food furniture/items.

Me too! I've seen other islands decorated with mushroom pieces and it looks so pretty!
It's been so tempting to trade for them but I promised myself I wouldn't because I'd find it more fun to get it all myself.

Yes, yes, YES. I can't WAIT for autumn! My ENTIRE island is getting a revamp the minute September starts. I can't wait till Halloween. Oogogugghuhhguhghgh pspspspspspspsps.

as much as I love summer I'm so excited to get some new seasonal DIYs! shame mushrooms aren't until November but nonetheless i suppose it's something to look forward to
No, mushroom season is NOT all fall (a lot of people seem confused on this)- for the Northern hemisphere, it's November. Acorns and pinecones are available right away, though.
Summer was a bummer, I'm all for fall.
lol, j/k. I liked the summer season in this game! I loved that swimming and the mermaid furniture came back! The summer shells and diys were ok. Fireworks were great too. But yeah, I'm ready to move on. Halloween is coming, and not only is it in my favorite season it's my favorite holiday! And mushrooms! So as much as I loved the summer, I'm anticipating fall so much.

I may change my mind once I live through the other two seasons, but it really does seem like spring was the best season on the island as far as appearances and creatures. Maybe it’s just nostalgia? Imagine if the game had come out a month earlier and everything had been covered in snow those first couple days— would not have been the same

I am sad that I missed spring. ><. Welp. Hopefully they will add enough content for me to keep playing through next spring.
