I'm looking into a new game to play. I have several 3DS games (Pokemon X, Bravely Default, ACNL) but New Leaf has appealed to me the most out of the three.
Harvest Moon looks real cute, but I've never played a Harvest Moon game before. Is it worth my while? Do you guys, who also play ACNL, recommend this game?
I definitely would! It's the first Harvest Moon game I really got into, but if you like ACNL then I think you'd also like ANB. But yeah, definitely hoard everything towards the beginning. Like ACNL it can be a little slow to start, but one thing that's fun about ANB is that the days go by quicker, so once you get all the 'chores' or whatnot done for the day you don't have to wait around or TT. It's lots of fun and very relaxing.
I'm a huge HM fan so I'm going to have to go with yes. c; I've played this game a lot and it's pretty good. All HM's have their pros and cons, but overall this one is a very good game.
But keep in mind, Story of Seasons is coming out fairly soon (date hasn't been released yet, but probably Winter 2014/Spring 2015), and it's basically an improved version of A New Beginning. I know that sounds strange because it doesn't even have Harvest Moon in the title, but XSeed is localizing it this around instead of Natsume and Natsume has the rights to the "Harvest Moon" name. So yeah, you might want to wait for that instead.
Either way, give HM a try. I've been playing it since the PS1 version, and it's one of my favourite series. c:
I love it, I`m in the summer of the first year and it slowly is kicking off more and more. I like that you can really make your mark on your farm, I also like most of the characters so far in the game. The graphics are ok, but could have been better. But even though I`m so far in the beginning, it seems to have a lot of depth, even though there is a small amount of repetitiveness about it all, but what do you expect from a farming sim.
I would definetly watch a review somewhere, to check if the graphical style fits your taste and if the type of gameplay is your thing like you say it is, then yeah, you should enjoy it quite a lot. I played a lot of Harvest Moon games, my favourite is still A Wonderful Life, but this comes actually quite close and if the graphics were better, it would probably have surpassed it even.
I've gotten the game and yup, I'm getting addicted. Must be careful not to put off ACNL for too long before villagers move out >_<
Story of Seasons and Fantasy Life both look interesting, but I'll wait a while before even considering them. I'll be kept busy with HM:ANB and AC:NL for now.
