Prompted by a message I saw somewhere today or yesterday, about how someone was glad about having two south river exits as it made both the east and west beach useful for DIY hunting...

This is my current island map, and even though I have a west side river mouth, that side is still my favourite when it comes to balloon hunting: there's a bridge close to the river mouth and it has the museum nearby (entering it and talking to Blathers helps make sure balloons spawn). The east side has cliffs basically all around and the beaches are narrower, so even though it doesn't have a river mouth, I usually hunt balloons during the day or time travel back to earlier that day so they will spawn on the west side...

Do you have similar, perhaps silly, preferences when it comes to balloon hunting?

I prefer hunting in the evening hours when the balloons are coming from the east because the beach on that side of the island has more room and less things for the present to fall into.

Not really a favorite spot...but, I tend to do balloon hunting after midnight. The music is quieter, and the wind usually picks up. I usually just put on headphones and listen for the whoosh sound.

I like hunting balloons from the right side of my island, as I don't have a river mouth on that side to block my path. Plus, my pier is on that side and sometimes I can see the balloons come by a bit more early.

I certainly do, it's swimming around the island while both hunting sea creatures and scouting balloons Plus I make a boatload of bells doing this.

I guess the right side because I have a chunky tide rock boulder on my left beach. Also Gulliver likes to collapse right there, it's more prone to traffic jams.

But the left side has my pier and I like to tilt my right control stick to view the horizon. It depends how hungry I am for hunting balloons, lol.

I have a very similar map set up to yours! (In fact it looks like we had the *almost* same starting map!) West river mouth with a little bridge right by the beach, continuous beach on the east side but with raised cliffs on the land. However opposite to you I do prefer to balloon hunt on the east. If I am snoozing and miss the balloons having to climb up on to the cliff to get them is super annoying but I am usually able to shoot down the balloons without having to leave the beach.

I prefer hunting during the day when they go from west to east (even though I have less playable hours during that timeframe). I'm in the same boat with a south/west river mouth setup, but I also put my bridge as close to the river mouth as I physically could, so it doesn't really inhibit me from running along the shore. My western beach is more of a uniform width than the eastern beach which curves in and out which helps with avoiding the balloon randomly falling into the ocean even though I'm 3 spaces inland when I shoot it.

Interesting to see the balloons can spawn in different direction during the day. The balloons spawn from right side during the day on my island. I like that side better because I can hear the balloon sound better with headphones than the other side.
