Does anyone else feel uncreative?

I don't know if it's because they're my towns, so I'm used to seeing them every day or what but I feel super uncreative compared to most players. It seems like there are a lot of players who can manage to create amazing and unique towns, no matter what they're given.

I always struggle with design though. I don't really know how to explain it, but my design style is very boring and holds me back a lot. I'm not very imaginative either. It seems like so many people can come up with great ideas but I struggle so much to think of ideas.

Does anyone else feel the same way?

No fear... I bet a lot of people here feel the same way. Yet I think I have a theory as to why: The game itself has the ability to overwhelm its players from using creativity in the first place. It does so by diverting your attention to other things, and this prevents you from slowing down to plan things clearly.

No really: There was a point in the game where I was planning a large square of land for a new works project attraction. As I did so, Balloons kept buzzing across, mosquitoes and rare bugs/fish started appearing, the mud spots shrouded the number of spaces I had, and villagers kept pinging around me - or tried initiating conversations with other villagers.

So many distractions everywhere... At that point, I decided to fill all the free spaces with the same path pattern to see them better, measured carefully, then put the DS to sleep to think a while on how to make things work. I managed to fit in a nice round topiary attraction, with bushes surrounding it in just the right amount of spaces.

Try to prevent the game from hazing you for a while, and slow down and think. I think that alone may help you find new ideas for your town. Of course, seeking art references might help as well.

Yes!! But that's because I recently restarted playing ACNL again since I wanted a fresh start and the beginning of the game's pace is sooo slow...

I feel like it takes time to think of creative paths and designs for your town since you need to explore and play around w/ it a lot

I'm starting to get the hang of laying out my pathways and interior designs haha

Same here, I just don't know where to put my PWPs, like I only put them sometimes because I feel like building one but I don't really know how to execute it well, I don't know if the placing is right, I don't know what else to put beside it, I just don't have any idea what I'm doing with my town right know tbh ahahahahaha and though I'm better at interior designing, I still can't put stuffs I really want since I lack knowledge of all the items available at AC... my designing is still pretty limited compared to many people here who has been in the game for years, I just started last July 17th so I still got a long way to go before I can truly get a hold of things xD

I feel this exact same way ALL the time. I'm so impressed by some people's creativity on here. I've seen some REALLY beautiful towns. And, I'm sure it took a lot of work in addition to a good bit of creativity. I've thought about "hiring" someone to help me get my town in shape. Because, it's rough right now. I'm trying so hard. But, it still looks crazy. "TAKE MY BELLS, MAKE MY TOWN PRETTY."

In my other towns, before I restarted! i have a town of ideas, ecspecially because I started on September 1st, which is the beginning of Fall in ACNL! So I have a ton of ideas for the new season and new town! Good luck to you all, I hope you come up with great ideas!

I feel the same way! Whenever I have visitors, they always say how nice my town is, but I just don't see it (probably because I see it everyday). It's reached the point where I've wanted to restart, but I just can't bring myself to do it, mainly because of the fact that I've had the same town since release and it does carry a sort of sentimental value.

I feel like this right now! There's sections of my town that are empty but I just can't think of how I want them, I even got stressed out over it and contemplated just starting the whole game again (sad I know)! Everything feels a little all over the place in my town at the minute because I'm trying to work on 3 different sections at once. I need to stop have a sit back and work on one bit at a time. I'm still unsure how I want them though.

Ugh that’s too real. I always put my paths down and then I add a street lamp or two and put a few flowers down but then I get a mind block. I can’t think of anything else and my town sissy there. Undercorated. So I try to come up with themes and also I hack a little bit and so that gets exciting. Also, if you’re feeling uncreative then just focus on something else like getting dream vilagers or trying to fill your catalog or do room sets. Filling a room with different themes is a super exciting thing for me when I finish my town layout. Also, expanding stores is great. Basically, there’s a lot of other things in this game that i like to do instead of designing my town, even though that’s a major part.

I often feel like this, I visit. Dream towns and see so many great ideas and then I go back to my town and think it's a mess.

The good thing is that you can totally recreate your town anytime you want. The only things that require careful consideration are the locations of your Mayor's house and permanent PWPs. Everything else can be changed.
