I was just curious if your spare characters besides your mayor fit into your theme? For example, I'm going with a fairytale theme and my mayor is named Princess (cheesy I kno). The other spare characters are Knight who lives on the same piece of land as my mayor and Witch who lives in the top corner of town away from everyone else. To go to the witch's house, you have to walk through a path of tempting food such as candy spewed on the floor and perfect cherries that are only found by the witch's house. I'm still thinking of what to do with the 4th character..... any suggestions would be helpful.

What did you do with your spare characters... or are they just pattern and storage mules?

I don't have a theme per say, but the way I see it, my second character (who I used initially for path space) is going to be in charge of tourism! :D I put his house near the beach, by my Japanese spa retreat, and also kind of close to the camp grounds. His house theme will eventually be based on a spa and other touristy things I imagine, so I made him my chief in staff for public relations haha. XD

My spare character is my mayor's personal assistant where my mayor have her own mansion and the assistant (not you forever, Isabelle!) runs an inn in the town and live in the basement =) I love this idea sooo much xD

That's so cute! I wish I could do something cohesive like that, but I just made themes for each character instead of one that they all fit into. My mayor, Ellie, is leader of Pharalan, and her house is kind of Egyptian when you first walk in. Fey is my second character and she's kind of the snobby wealthy woman who lives in a mansion, Jonathan is my third character and his house is partly creepy and spooky because he has a thing for the paranormal and studying the effects of fear on people, so he has a lab and such, and Mimi is based off of Super Paper Mario Mimi where you had to work for her to earn Rupees to pay her back your debt, only this time she runs a Cafe' you have to work in. :D

They don't in my main town, but my alt town is called Chai and my characters are Milk (mayor), Tea, and Cinnamon c:

With the exception of my main town's mayor name, I have all themed towns with characters. : D

In my TTing town, Ultear is the mayor. She's the mage with the Arc of Time magic in Fairy Tail. There are two other characters I created for the storage space, to help me sell large quantities of items: Jellal and Meredy, Ultear's guild-mates.

In Edolas, Daphne is the mayor. If everyone in Earthland is also in Edolas, then she must be there too. I'm planning on resetting this town so that either Jellal or Erza can be the mayor. Because plot reasons.

Whenever I make a new character to plot/villager reset, I always name her Amber, the contractor who walks through time.

/coughs out bunch of lame headcanons woops

My pathbuilding alt is going to have a "school"/library/research center. His name is Nol and he's an exiled genius prince who my mayor struck a deal with in order to ensure the prosperity of her town (because paths are so important obviously). She funds his facilities and research, he does his magic, etc. Over time, her+his influence will turn the town more perfect albeit more dark and artificial!...oh god this sounds like a riff for a bad show.

But I really kind of enjoy making themes and backstories in my head ahaha;

I would watch that show. :D

My brother plays but he really doesn't fit any theme at all :P. Although, I have a 3rd character who's my wife (not really). She is more in charge of watering, and tiles, and flower breeding, while my main character (me) is the opposite. A buisness man who only seeks bells.

Nope ~ my spare character is my sister Lucy's name just because I couldn't think of any special/more creative names for them. Also, I like our name meanings light and life ;D

My town doesn't really have an overall theme, but my characters do have their own for their houses. xD

My mayor, Anya, is just an extension of myself so not really, but I'm just making my house modern-ish. Ophelia is my main Maplestory character, and so I'm making her house Maplestory-themed. xD Harle is a Japanese character of mine and I wanted a Japanese-themed house, so. c: Kaya I created 'cause I just wanted a male based off one of my other characters, and I decided to make his house a gothic mansion, 'cause he likes things like that. ^_^

Hopefully I can pull it off. ^^;
