Do you use patterns as pathways in your town?

I haven't yet but that's just because I haven't decided on where I want paths and where everything is going to go, but I will soon. I think it adds more visual stuff to the game and can make it look neat.

By the way, how do I make my own paths? I've tried with the pattern maker but the palette is so limited and I can't make it look half-decent. Does anyone know of any tutorials?

I have 3 path patterns that flow with the Zen theme of my town. Having paths helps me run in my town without destroying flowers and grass.
