...Nintendo will EVER increase the character limit for these games? I've been wanting to name my town after my favorite area in Final Fantasy IX, Daguerreo, for what feels like an eternity, but can't because of the eight character limit for town names.

Anyone else have a name you've always wanted to use but can't because it's too long?

Just think - in Japan they only have 6 characters!!! Yes, I know Japanese is different, but still. I try to keep my town names to 6 characters or less as a personal challenge of creativity.

I have had tons of town name ideas with 9 letters. I have a list of 39 potential town names right now that are 8; if it is more I don't usually add them to the list.

It must have been a data size issue. Adding even one more character must increase data.

Computer science majors want to weigh in?

It took them over 15 years, but they finally did for Pok?mon in 2013 so who knows lol

i wanted Fantastica as my town name, based on the world from The Neverending Story, but had to settle for Fantasia, which is the name used in the film.

Maybe? A few games that have multiple entries have upped their limits, like Harvest Moon/Pokemon/etcetc (it took a long time, though). That being said it hasn't caused me any issues -- I'm good either way.

I also want the game to allow us to have more villagers in a town too. Ten isn't enough. I would love to be able to have 16 villagers so I can have 2 for each personality.

Aw, I've never even considered it as it's never been an issue for me, but I hope for your sake they will!

They should increase it to 12 characters else there might be spam and rude town names even more than before. But I would love to change the name of the town to BearKingdom or something!

I'd really appreciate that they did it! I've had countless good ideas for a name that had to be put down because of the 8 letters limit .

I don't know...I doubt they will make it much longer in the next games but it would be nice since I feel like it wouldn't hurt anything in the game...they could just use smaller font sizes lol.
