Do you think they will ever make the dialogues less repetitive?

I'd really like if they added more dialogue options. I'm not super hopeful though :(

The more dialogue options the better especially in a game like AC, so yeah it’d be great if they did add more in.

Dialogue has always been pretty repetitive in AC games though so I doubt they will honestly.

I had the same problem as NL and NH with the repetitive dialogue, but in the future they may add more so it won’t get stale.

I honestly don’t see it as all that repetitive in NH but I guess it’s just me... you have to expect that they’ll repeat things because they’re AI with a limited number of things they can say, but as you become good friends and then best friends with them more dialogue trees open up and I only find it particularly repetitive with the personalities I’ve doubled on, especially my normals who I feel might have less dialogue in general. But otherwise I genuinely feel like at least one of my villagers says something new every day and I talk to them a lot. I agree that I definitely wouldn’t mind more dialogue being added though. And more for lazies especially as long as it isn’t bug-related since I hate their stupid bug dialogue and it’s a localization-only thing that I wish never happened.
I also agree that Wild World has awesome dialogue! I honestly don’t want my villagers being mean to me to the extent they are in GC where they’ll call the player fat and stupid and such but WW mostly did away with that and I like the crankies and snooties in that game a lot. Though to be honest I actually the personalities they have in NH and really don’t think the dialogue in itself isn’t bad, the problem is just that I wouldn’t really describe them as cranky or snooty anymore. I wish we could have both somehow.

ETA: On the other hand, though, if we were to talk about the special NPCs... at this point, most of them aren’t that special and having Tom Nook as the face of the franchise is almost like if the nurse was the face of pokemon, except he has slightly more personality than that. Bring back the episodes from WW/CF and let me actually get to know these characters, please!

I have been playing a lot, and I am starting to notice the repeating messages. I hope they will add more, but I personally don't have much hope for it. I am a bit confused how others think all personalities are the same though. They all seem really different to me.

WW was my first game, and I definitely miss how in-depth the dialogue felt, but I'll also be the first to admit I remember it through heavy, heavy nostalgia glasses. My DS and WW are both long gone. That said, I don't understand why anyone wants them to be outright mean. I got called nasty things enough in real life, I'm not interested in it in a video game meant to be about community.

I love that Snooties are the very formal, mature "Southern belles" now: that's absolutely what I think of when I think of Snooty, is very high-class ladies, too polite to be rude to your face but backhanded and gossipy anyway. Diana and Soleil have both lived up to that descriptor in my island, and it's fun. More options and more dialogue would be wonderful, but the basic framework is perfect, I think.

I loved WW crankies and I love NH crankies. Befuddled old granddads. "Pretty sure I have a home, at least..." cracks me up every time. I wish we could have both, somehow!

I have no doubt they'll add at least a bit more, especially as features get added in; I hope they take the advantage to use this extensively, but who knows?

I feel like the dialogue in New Horizons is a lot less repetitive than it was in New Leaf but as someone mentioned upthread, a lot of that expanded dialogue is very contextual. I have to remind myself to talk to villagers when I see them shopping because I’m not used to them having something to say about such things!

That said, if less repetitive dialogue means Hamlet not shouting “MUSCLE MADNESS” at me first thing every morning, well, I’m against it, lol.

I hope so! I feel like it wouldn't be a lot to ask for more dialogue to be added with each planned update.

yes omg... I know their friendship affects their dialogue, but I'm literally at max friendship with all my villagers and they all say the exact same things. constantly telling me "yesterday I heard you were doing XYZ", or "so and so visited from XYZ island, must be nice blah blah..."

their dialogue in the museum is great though!! I follow them around to hear what they have to say about different art/fish/etc. haha

the conversations they have with each other is soooo interesting though! I caught frita and wolfgang having one where they were basically just roasting each other, I know it's unlikely more dialogue will be added but it makes me sad that their conversations with us are so stale while their conversations with each other seem to have so much variety :(

i wish we could ask islanders questions, and get more anecdotes about their lives... like, francine and chrissy are sisters.. it'd be cute if they each mentioned having a twin sister sometimes

Omg yes! I love listening to the conversations they have with each other. It's like Nintendo put all their effort into that instead of the basic day to day interactions we have with them which really sucks. I'm tired of having villagers of the same personality type say the exact same thing to me on the same day. Like, I know dialogue is going to be repeated but really? Within a span of five minutes is kind of ridiculous.

something i’ve always wished for is that they would mention the skills and goals that they have coded into NL—why are those there if only to be used for april fools day, which (disappointingly imo) didn’t even come to NH? And how is anyone supposed to know the answers come april fools day anyway except for looking up a guide, which is boring and imo shouldn’t be necessary? It wouldn’t have to be much at as I know there are hundreds of villagers, but even just a few little lines would be a nice way to give them even just a bit of their own unique dialogue and personality. If Static is good at backflipping and wants to be a guitarist and Punchy is good at staying awake and wants to be a cartoonist, they should tell me so!

The crankies and snootiest need their personalities back. I’m not saying they have to straight up insult you but make them live up to their name. I got Apollo and as soon as he moved in he was waving to me when I left his house and his face was like ^_^ like I thought I would have to work my way up to his friendship if he’s cranky. They made the crankies old grandpas now.

As for snooties, they just sound really soft spoken and polite. It’s always “oh darling I love your outfit! I love to do skincare, talk to me anytime you need to honey” like it makes it boring if we can’t build up our friendship when then when they’re nice from the start.

It's possible they could add new dialogue down the line but I'm not sure. Tbh, it does kinda get repetitive after a while though. Sometimes I have to talk to them 3-4 times to get anything interesting. I think if they talked about their canon skills and careers as well as have dialogue relating to their zodiac, it would make them very interesting.

I think the problem is they added a lot of diverse dialogue for a lot of different things. Like cute clothes, sporty clothes, business clothes, comfy clothes... then sitting furniture, table furnitire, furniture with lights, toy furniture... and then for every friendship level, event, weekday, time of the day, month, season. So if you talk to villagers about nothing it'll repeat pretty quickly.
I think this is true - most of the time I talk to them whilst they're doing nothing and theres not much to say. But once I got a whole new convo whilst Bob was just standing next to bugs that I was saving up for Flick and that was a nice surprise. Sometimes they talk about clothes I gave them, or if I was terraforming a lot they'll ask me what I was doing yesterday. In some ways the game is weirdly specific - in other ways its repetitive & vague. My hopes is that they'll add more dialogue since this game is apparently getting 2-3 year support, but I'm also alright if they don't

snooties are one of my favorite personalities in AC since they're sassy and funny but in this game they talk more like diplomatic princesses 😅 they aren't snooty at all! same with crankies. I love them both but I wish they had more flavor in their dialogue

I sure hope so, there's a lot of special character dialogue that you need to go through that's just.. so unnecessary. :/ Some lines should be seen once and then never again, like the "you have a Nook Mile ticket on you" dialogue. It should jump straight to the option list.

But yeah, I hope they add in new villager dialogue too cause it's gonna get old real fast. (some of it kinda already has imo) There's still dialogue in New Leaf I haven't seen before despite playing for years.. and that's considering a lot of people always thought New Leaf dialogue was meh lol

I doubt they'll do it but it would be nice if they did. Essentially the spoken dialogue in this game is a sped up and pitched synthetic voice. They would have to write the new dialogue but has the luxury of not needing voice actors to record the lines.

If the new dialogue will repeat as much as bunny day ones, then I would rather they not. I can only read so many about eggs dropping from striking coconut trees on mystery islands.
