Do you think the male mayors look more cute than the female ones?

Does anyone else think the female humans look a bit off?

My sister recently got New Leaf and she said she kept restarting the game cause her character kept coming out looking unattractive or butch. I have to agree with her on this, I find most of the female hairstyles far from flattering (why can't they have long hair?) and the faces just seem to look more like mens faces somehow. Add in the comedy 'girl' run and the female mayors do sometimes give off a vibe of being men pretending to be female...

There's some girls I've played with who've made their character look really nice by changing the hair and given them certain outfits but it does seem like more of an effort than the male mayors who look adorable in pretty much anything IMO.

Hope I don't offend anyone with this! My criticism is aimed at Nintendo, I'm sure you've all made the most of what they've given you to work with! I just wondered what you think.

I think the female mayors looks quite good, actually. I'm just so over the moon that they've moved on from the squashed, short character model of previous games; everything's just so much more aesthetically pleasing about the mayors ((and villagers)) in New Leaf.

I don't like all the hairstyles the females get but I like enough of them that I don't have any issue. Besides, there's something for everyone. The styles you don't like might be someone else's favourites. Also, the hair length restrictions likely coincide with what's viable for the character model. They could probably have designed longer hair but it would've meant more animations, more bug testing, more programming, etc. that they probably couldn't justify within their budget.

As for the 'comedy' running ... it doesn't bother me. I like the fact that different outfits make you run in different ways.

tl;dr everyone's cute. I absolutely can't complain, especially considering the improvements in leaps and bounds from previous games.

I never thought the female mayor looked worse than the male one (though I don't think there are many eye styles that look good), but I completely agree with you about the long hair. I understand how it complicated things in the game (clipping issues, etc etc), but I love long hair and hate that there's no long hair in the game.

I've got a guy mayor, definitely prefer him to the ladies. Agreed on the hair thing though. Both genders could have used some fancier styles.

My mayor is a girl and seeing screenshots of male players, I think they look way cuter. I'm not a fan of the girl hairstyles but I love most of the guy hairstyles. Although, I love dressing the girl, I would probably like finding cool outfits for the guy as well.
I don't really think the female mayor looks manly, I just think the guy characters are cuter.

I personalty don't pick the really short hairstyles because I don't like to have really short hair, but that's the beauty of having choices.

Personally, I love being a girl mayor because I can wear *~*~*Cute skirts and tights*~*~*~

I can't say it's something I've noticed, I think the female player characters are plenty cute and prefer them over the males, not that there's anything wrong with the male characters.

I actually love the way the females look but they could of done better with the hair! Also boys look horrible in dresses

I think both are equally cute! Honestly though, if a female character had a guys hair and was dressed up as a guy and vice-versa, I probably wouldn't be able to tell.

Otherwise, Male characters can look cute if you have the right clothing, hopefully mine will look cute when my 3DS is fixed and when my Commissioned clothing pattern is finished c:

but anyway i personally don't mind the girl style. i actually think it's pretty cute. i can't really see in a sense though on how they look manly.

I actually feel the opposite about this. I have a male secondary character, and I think he looks U-G-L-Y. No matter what hairstyle I give him, too! :U And the eyes they have on New Leaf look more like girl eyes (save for a few) than manly guy eyes! I much prefer the looks of the female characters to the male characters.

I can safely say this then.

Males -> Into Female character looks.
Females -> Into Female character looks.
Me -> Into both Gender looks.

It just depends on what you're wearing and such, My character has long hair because I have long hair, He has Brown eyes because I have Brown eyes, He wears stupid clothing because I wear stupid clothing!

Here is a screenshot of my mayor, I think she is adorable. That is really the only girl eye-shape that I like at all though. I had the short bob with bangs because I thought it was the shortest girl hair, and I was working towards unlocking the boy haircuts when I realized there is a pixie cut option for girls! I have short hair myself, so I like that my character can look like me. The long hairstyles seem awkward, imo, because they are solid and don't move.

I haven't made an alt yet, but I eventually want to free up space in my patterns for some custom clothes. I was putting it off but now I am excited to dress a boy character. I just need to figure out where to put his house...

IMO, the male faces can pass for females if they're gussied up; I don't know how many Mayors I've pegged for girls but were in fact, guys.
