Do you think Nintendo would consider changing the fact that gold tools break?

I assume they've done it for a reason as they never used to - but I'll admit it's one of the only things that bothers me about this awesome game - no end to the constant breaking tools! And I know a lot of others feel the same. I wonder if in a patch they'd change this upon realising how many people dislike this feature? What do others think?

I doubt they will.

I don't mind it, what's the point of putting in a WHOLE crafting system if you can just learn a DIY skill by getting one of the million duped copies out there then never need to worry about crafting for 'em? I heard the durability is a lot higher than normal tools so I would say if they literally made them a lot more durable to weigh in how hard materials for them are to get (which given people seem to not be complaining on THAT front, just that they have durability to begin with) then it's fine.

They may change it or they may make a new tier of tools? Maybe diamond tools? I doubt it though.

I have the recipes for two golden tools (slingshot and watering can) and been playing this game since launch. Hitting every rock on my island every day plus going on about 100+ nook island tours and hitting all the rocks available to me and I have a total of 4 golden nuggets. Saying they're difficult to get feels like an understatement.

For a material so rare we should at least have a "repair" option where we can reset the durability of the golden tools since we cant customize them to do it.

I dunno where you're getting THAT, pretty much every complaint I've seen (and mine as well) is that the durability is pitiful for how rare the material is. Gold tools are basically pointless wastes of gold nuggets.

Doubt it unfortunately the golden tools are useless for the most part:

the net and rod come so late in the game you won’t need them
How often does anyone chop down trees in animal crossing to justify making a gold axe? You can just eat a fruit and sell the tree anyway
By the time you have a golden slingshot you no longer care about balloons
The water can at least has a unique use but even then there will come a time it’s more cost effective to use a normal one

Only if the current tools were still breakable and new ones require 40 gold ores to craft.

I hope not. Gold tools being unbreakable would ruin the game

I don't think they will but I'm not a fan of tools breaking at all. I feel like this could've been kept with flimsy tools and they could have made regular tools obtainable once the town hall unlocked. And the gold (and silver tools if they were in the game) could've had unique abilities like before, like a golden shovel increasing money from a money tree or getting more gold from a rock.

I'm not really going to go for the golden tools in this game apart for the nook miles. While the regular tools break pretty quickly since I use them so much, iron ores are much more common than gold which I have only 10 of since playing the game from release.

I mean... would it? or would it just change the gameplay? is searching for materials fun every single time? is crafting individual tools fun every single time? In previous games the tools just... existed. And I never thought "dang, I wish I had to spend extra time looking for resources to make the same tool over and over again, or spend money on them over and over"
The golden tools are meant to be a reward that makes the game easier as a benefit to the player for working so hard, the whole POINT of the golden axe is that it doesn't. break. Having an unbreakable golden tool wouldn't stop you from using breakable tools, but it would give purpose to these classic items returning when their inclusion as it stands is a major waste of gold nuggets when you can make or buy many items of only half the utility with much more common material/a pittance of bells

Hm they might eventually add a stronger tool tier? I was against the breakable tools at first, but I've kind of gotten used to it at this point. Even if tools break, I always am going to have the means to craft another set, so I'm not that bothered.

I want a health bar for tools at the very least. Crafting a new one before the one I already have breaks would save me the time running to one of the many crafting stumps around the island.

Adjusting the gold tools to last way longer than they already do would be great too. Make it worth the gold nugget.

I doubt it. Personally I don't think its a big deal at all.
The durability is increased from the iron tools so it's not like you're paying more for the same thing all over. Plus it's only.... one gold nugget to make them that's not much considering they last so much longer than normal tools and you can easily find at least one golden nugget while going to islands. And there aren't many DIYs that use golden ore? By the time you get all the fish and bugs for the golden rod/net (a year from now.) you'll have plenty extra gold ore. Slingshots take forever to break anyway and there's no REAL reason to abuse the golden watering can or shovel until they break unless you want a bunch of gold roses or money trees everywhere.

The golden tools are really all about status anyway. They don't do anything to make the game THAT much easier or better to begin with unless you want an island full of golden roses/money trees. So what if they break? Just make a new one and move on. That's the whole point of games like this is to take it day by day and if something you don't like happens do what you can to change it and if you can't there's always tomorrow or something else.

I don't really get the appeal of golden tools when they still break. I didn't bother with the gold tools besides the golden slingshot. I'd rather just keep buying my colorful tools so I can customize them cute colors but it's all preference. I don't think they're gonna change the golden tools though.

another thing is that the golden tools in nh dont have any sort of special ability like they did in nl. I guess they just take longer to break?? idk

They probably wont but I wish.
If gold was exclusively used for the gold tools? I honestly wouldnt have minded, but the fact that theres other items that need gold completely switches my priorities. It feels like a waste to me to spend my limited gold on breakable tools vs an item I'll like to decorate that'll last forever

Plus at this point, I'm simply used to the regular tools. By the time I unlock the gold tools I barely see any need to craft them unless they had a special effect the other tools dont that I would want to use.

Imo, gold tools are pretty useless since they still break. Sure they last a little longer, but is it really worth it to use a whole gold nugget that will eventually break, when I can craft so many other things with it that won't? Not to me, it isn't
