i've noticed a lot of people here have themed towns, including both towns with themes such as pastel, fairy tale, zen or towns where all villagers of the same species, even though there are also still lots of non-themed towns.
my question to you guys is: do you prefer themed or non-themed towns? if you have more than one town, did you make themed ones and non-themed ones? which kind of town do you prefer visiting in dreams?
i personally only have one town, which isn't themed. i considered trying to do a themed town for a while but it didn't feel natural to me, and now i just have a bunch of references to various things in various areas. when i check out dream towns i usually prefer themed ones though since they're really nice to look at and explore :> non-themed dream towns can be really cool as well though!
so yeah, how about you? which kind of town do you prefer? and if your town is themed, what kind of theme has it?

Non-Themed. There is just too little things to go for when you're going for a theme. On the other hand, non-themed towns can do anything and have anything, which doesn't limit our choices and creativity.

I have 4 towns.

Seaside has a tropical theme.
Moonview I'll probably do Fairy tale.

The other two doesn't have a theme really.
I've been told by several people that Rosewood looks to be fairy tale/zen.

For me I kinda like no theme. Though themed towns are really cool.

I prefer non-themed, although I do appreciate a good themed town, especially when they're really committed with patterns and such. The good thing with non-themed is that it has a personal touch which makes it more interesting.

Depends on the theme.

I have two towns. My main town is Sailor Moon, my side town is DragonBall Z.
heh, yes, i remember visiting dream-neo mercury to see hopper in action.

to the other ones, i agree that non themed towns have that special personal touch while themed ones look cool because of all the work they take -v- thats probably why i have a non-themed one and like visiting themed ones, lmao

To be very General, the themed towns have been to have been awesome and very well made!

The non-themed towns usually seem to lack creativity, but that's just very general. The Town of North (Mayor Rae) owned by tumblr's floatingpresents is so pretty and its not really themed. Go visit it now!

Mine isn't really themed. I do have some fairy tale stuff in it though. Am waiting to finish paying off my 4th character's house and stock it and then I'll create a new dream address for it. I'm pretty proud of all the work I've done in my town :)

I like themed towns. My train station and town hall are fairy-tale themed, and my brick path is pink/blue/white. Most of my flowers are pink and blue (I do have sections of orange/red/yellow rainbow and purple areas as well, but the majority of my flowers are pink and blue).

I really like how some people take it even farther - like the person who has a totally food themed town, that's wicked cool. I wouldn't do that unless I had a third copy though, as I need my dreamies and my cycling/second town for other things.

I don't have a preference. There are themed towns whose theme just doesn't speak to me though I admire the perseverance and hard work of the people who have made them. Then there are non-themed towns that also don't mean much to me. I guess which towns I like best just depend on which ones I find the nicest, according to my personal taste. I think a big factor is putting care into it, if it shows that someone really had put lots of care and dedication into their town, even if I find it ugly I'll still admire their patience.

Personally, my town is sort of in-between. It isn't themed but I'm trying to keep the design of everything and everyone looking coherent. I may theme it one day, who knows? Just not for now.

It's impressive but I'd never have the effort to do it. I just like to make a *nice woodland* town. It's not particularly themed as it's kind of the basic that the game offers you. I probably wouldn't throw a sphinx into the mix though, or anything too unrealistic*. I have some restrictions.

Basically I like a lot of flowers and vegetation. I don't even arrange my flowers, they're just kind of wild, but there's a lot of them. Also a lot of fruit trees. A lot of people's hell I guess. I think it's pretty ;-)

*i say about the game of anthropomorphic animals

I like theme towns because it takes a LOT of work to focus on simply one thing in this game considering all of the cool and cute items. Towns without themes are equally fascinating because the village could be beautiful without much thought.

My main town isn't themed, since I got the game primarily to deal with my anxiety disorder. I don't even have paths. (Though I may implement some simple paths in it eventually; I wanna keep my soil safe!) I plan on getting a second copy so I can make a Madoka Magica themed town. I think that could be fun to do, though I don't know how to go about doing it!

As long as the towns look nice and organized. I don't care if they are themed or not. Sometimes ppl with theme towns can't find the stuff to match the theme and the town looks horrible!

I love a well made themed town.I have seen a lot of cool ones. But I have also seen some very nice towns that were not themed.

I had so much fun decorating my first town with a theme, that I bought another copy just so I could decorate another themed town.

Themed towns can be a lot of work, and have kept me interested in playing for almost a year.
