I'm curious. I know some people reset for hours, cut down all the trees, lay down patterns indicating what goes in that space, and all that kinda stuff. On the other hand, some people take the first town they get and don't even have paths. Where do you fall? ʕノ?ᴥ?ʔノ
Personally, I'm kinda in the middle. I have paths and planned out to some degree where all my PWPs and stuff will go, but I'm not super organized about it. Sometimes I wish I would plan it out more, but it's not really my playing style.

I really would but I lack the skill. I really have no head for planning. I am only capable of planning on what colours and schemes I want...but to actually have a great layout and good path system??? I'll be coming here begging for help very soon.

So...I wish I could say yes, but I can't because I don't have much skill. I admire the folks who do. I really messed up my Main Town and grew to hate it so much I did a reset and lost a lot of work. But it is worth it. I'm getting to the point where I'll be asking for advice so I won't mess up again so badly with convoluted paths and poorly placed PWP's.

I'm in the middle as well. I literally picked the first map I was given, and I've never reset the town because I wanted to learn to work with my town even though it wasn't "perfect." All except for two of my villagers were placed naturally, but I plan to do the reset trick for any future villagers, although I don't plan to get many new villagers because, similarly, I don't want to find a "perfect" roster of villagers. I only have general areas where I want villagers to move, and I don't really care about whether or not the houses are in perfect lines. I do make paths and have general areas planned out (park, forest, etc.), but nothing specific. I do want to make those areas look as nice as possible.

Basically, I don't try to make it perfect, but I try to make it look nice with what I was given. I'd definitely feel better if I planned out everything exactly and had everything noted down, but part of the fun/frustration with playing AC is learning how to just go with the flow, and I like that.

not really.... i kind of regret not planning at first but i didn't know there was such a huge fandom for animal crossing and a forum like this lol. i'm still happy with my villagers and town though. my town is definitely a work in progress but i know that one day it'll turn out to be very nice despite the fact that i don't plan lol.

I reset over 500 times for my town, but I 'don't even have paths'. (Since when do they sound so essential? lol)

I still put a fair bit of planning into certain parts of my town though, like I wouldn't build one PWP until I had worked out all of the surrounding ones, since I usually use a system of PWPs to decorate an area rather than single ones. I don't go to the extent of arranging every single tree, though.

I guess I'm in the middle too. I reset for most of my villagers' plots (I think Beau was the only one I let put his house wherever??), but I never bothered resetting for a map or anything like that. I mean I did have ideas for where I wanted things to be, but even when villagers and whatnot weren't in the ideal spots, I just worked around it.

I completely randomly placed anything anywhere in my town, no planning at all. While I think my town needs some improvement now because of how nice other towns are, I don't mind saying my town is just as beautiful and that I'm satisfied with it.

I did not plan anything at first when I started the game out. Now I'm mapping out my paths and PWPs and getting annoyed when villagers move in on my central, most important path. XD So much changes in the span of 11 months.

I just go with the flow~

The only thing I can't go with is where the villagers place their houses. I use to just let them place their house wherever, but then Carmen my dreamie put her house in front of the only bridge in town, and then chief my other dreamie put his house right next the path I liked to run through right behind my house...needless to say I just moved them to my other game and rebuilt the town.

I used to do everything YOLO style. Didn't reset for my town map, let the villagers place their house wherever... But it got to the point where I can't stand the look of my town, so now I'm letting go of all but 2 of my villager (it does make me sad...) to replace them with others for which I carefully planned and marked the house positioning. So yes now I do have a layout planned out, and I'm happy about it.

I'm somewhere in the middle, as well. I should plan more, but I never like the way things turn out, so yeah...

ahaha what is planning, even

I change my mind every few days anyway, so planning's just not in the works. I implement PWPs where I think they'll look nice / villagers will actually use them (it bothers me when no one sits on my benches). I've never reset for a villager's house, either. I feel like if they want to live in my front yard, so be it.

Kinda laid-back, I guess. Okay with it. I get a bit picky about flowers, but haha that's over too because they're everywhere and I'm too lazy to go through and neaten them up. I literally have huge patches of roses everywhere and the villagers think it's neat to keep planting more. So whatevers.

I'm in the middle. I didn't reset for a perfect map, I just reset for villagers (shameful haha). I just put PWPs where I thought they looked nice. But now that I have all my paths etc. I have everything planned out.

I literally chose the 1st map they gave me because I thought it looked pretty. I basically just built my entire town around everything that was already there. I didn't even know about plot resetting until I got 9 villagers xD I just put PWPs where I can envision them being pretty. Around 50% of my town isn't even properly pathed (not a word ;^; ) yet.

I put the coffee shop and police station in the worst places possible. There's houses in front of them, so now I need to move the villagers out.

I didn't plan anything for my first town, but then I learned you can choose your face, so I reset and got really picky about everything... and then I realized I was way happier with my first town so I reset again and now I'm kinda in the middle.

I'm a bit in the middle, I guess. I've never reset for any of my villagers, so all of their houses are natural. But I do have paths, patterns in my flowers and recently I've started to cut down some trees to line them up in a certain way. I still like the natural feeling though, so I'm not going over the top with it! :)

I guess a little.

I never reset my main town for prefect maps. I just picked the one I liked the most. Up until recently I didn't really plan anything. I built PWPS where ever and let my villagers move anywhere. I was really lucky and the villagers never plotted on my running paths. Then my luck ran out. Now I plot reset. Its not really planned out though. I just reset until they aren't on my paths or in a bad location. I don't have a set place for them to live ahead of time. Same thing goes for PWPS. I'm more thoughtful of where I'm building them, but I'm not planning ahead of time where everything will go. I do however plan out where my trees/bushes/flowers go.
