I actually hate it. Gotta craft shovels once in awhile because they break and craft other things that l rather to buy. Bad part is if you have an island that has pretty trees and you don't want to destroy them...or shake the trees over and over, well you gotta for wood. My sister really hates the crafting thing. She hates looking for materials.
You don't have to destroy your trees for wood! Use the stone axe, and you can chop each tree 3 times each day without them being destroyed. Only the axe and golden axe will destroy your trees. (Unless you're meaning they're pretty because they bear fruit... then well yeah, chopping them will bring down the fruit).

Yeah l mean the fruit thing with the trees

I like the mechanic itself, I don't think it's as bad as some make it out to be, but I do think it needs some quality of life improvements to make it flow better with the chill gameplay. Things like a health gauge for tools, the option for crafting multiple of an item at once, a search option for the DIY app and a way to craft and customize an item at the same time.

I couldn't say this any better myself.

Especially the gauge for tools. I'd totally carry an extra with me if I knew a certain tool of mine was about to break. Instead I have to leave when I'm doing and grab one from my house or craft a new one whenever one breaks on me.

After reading through the thread, people have made some great points. I really, really wish we could craft things without having the materials in our pockets. If they're in our storage that should be good enough. It's frustrating to have to make space in my pockets to have all the materials ready to craft. So I changed my vote from "Yes I love it" to "I like it but it needs revisions" :)

I’m not so sure about crafting from storage, though: I can’t think of any popular game that allows that (Im sure Minecraft and SV don’t have that capability).

i guess ur mileage may vary if u consider this game ''popular'', but fantasy life allows you to craft from storage.

it's much more convenient imo.

i like the crafting system i think it needs revisions for sure, but i wouldn't care if it was kept or scrapped. would still feel like the same title to me idk. as far as tool degradation goes, honestly the only tools worth being breakable are the flimsy tools. they introduce gathering materials and the crafting system to new players, but once you get the tool upgrades, you dont really need to be introduced to the crafting system anymore?? like you already know how to gather mats and make stuff, theres no point in having tools break. it only disrupts the gameplay honestly. also breakable golden tools are literally useless. grrr.
and then no bulk craft is just yucky. but i do like the idea of a crafting system in animal crossing. need to be able to customize more things though, and not with customization kits. i dont like having to buy them constantly, its annoying.

I mean it would be more convenient but I know the two games I mentioned are considered more user-friendly than AC but don’t have storage crafting. I guess they do have multi-crafting, though. Perhaps it’s linked to them not having an elaborate crafting animation...darn, now I want the ability to turn that off.

Hi guys I made a second user on my island. Can she also get the mushrooms or just the island owner?

I like it overall, but the fact that you can't craft in bulk completely killed it for me. I haven't finished any of the crafting related nook miles yet and don't really care to try. Its just so tedious!

You know, when I was first introduced to crafting, I thought it was tedious. A couple of months later, I've gotten used to it and enjoy crafting new items whenever I get a new DIY recipe. The only time I get annoyed is when I'm crafting a bunch of bait.
I do wish fences had customization through. Seems like a weird oversight not to have it as an option.

the crafting idea is cute and i really like it, but i think nintendo could've done it better. i don't use it that often, but im not sure if that's cus i haven't gotten into decorating my island yet or i just don't use it too often

I don't mind it at all, but I kinda wish they would allow us to store DIY recipes. I don't understand why they didn't do that. Practically everything else in storage able, so why not these? Other than that, it's totally fine with me.

I like it! It could use some updates (as people have said) with crafting multiple things at once or breaking down items that you've crafted into their materials or even going faster without having to press A over and over. But overall, I think it's a great way to introduce different fun aspects into the game!

I like it, and it’s a great new addition to the series, but like a lot of things I think it’s a lot of faff, and effort to get anywhere. Like a lot of people, the option to craft multiple items at once would be amazing, I made so much fishing bait when I was going for the last cast master achievement that it’s have really helped. Also, being able to pull the crafting materials direct from your storage would save me so much pocket space and not have to lug around materials. I think it’s good, it just needs some quality of life changes :)

I like it the concept but I don’t love it. I guess I just don’t really mind it. I’m getting back into the habit of crafting my tools instead of buying them so I can make use of my materials gathering dust. I’d still love for a bulk crafting option since I still find myself doing that a lot for bait and hot items (hot items is my favourite way to make bells heh) I think it‘s a fun activity to do at the beginning of each new season/update when you’re getting the materials and making the items for the very first time. Beyond that, a lot of the craftable furnitures don‘t have much use to me currently, especially if it‘s themed. For example, I love the mermaid furniture since it’s a classic and beautifully designed but I‘m struggling to find a way to utilize it. I much rather see some more functional items slowly reintroduced along side them than have main updates revolve around a special thing only, which seems to be the direction these updates are taking. I feel more hopeful about enjoying crafting more once more farming types are introduced and possibly the ability to craft food items. I really want more miscellaneous type craftable items that have more function rather than it always being “themed” Eg. Food dishes crafted with harvest vegetables, cashier machines crafted from iron during a Brewster/cafe update, etc.

I don't... mind it I guess? I'm lazy so I'd rather buy my tools (not like there's anything to spend bells on rn anyway), but getting DIYs is a pain especially seasonal ones that are limited and only spawn in balloons.

But yeah I don't really feel strongly one way or the other about it I suppose.

I don't mind having to craft as long as I don't have to bother with stats and quality and the like. I do mind that it's like 95% wood and stone stuff with very little variety. Was it really necessary that the only actual non-special furniture series are wood with iron, wood without iron, wood in log form, and wood made into blocks?
