For me every time one of my villagers ask me if I want a nickname I always tell them no. After my experience with other Animal Crossing games and nicknames I don't want to fall into that again. It's just... I don't want all the villagers to start calling me something like "Cupcake", "Big R" and so on forever. I want them to still call me by my character's actual name.

I'm not sure if it's changed now but before you couldn't change the nickname back to your original name. I would like it better if you could change it back honestly.

What do you think about this?

I don't know if you can change it back to your real name, but I personally like nicknames. I think they're cute and in some cases pretty funny

I love the nicknames! Ladybro and Mon Amie are going around mine right now lol

Nicknames are cute and funny in their own ways. I had some of my peppies call me "Shmoopy" before which I thought was cute.

I love them, they're so cute aha. I got "sweetheart" and "nougat" and they're both really cute :'D (idk if that's the right translation for the nicknames though)
In WW I also got "S town" wich was kinda weird but I didn't mind.

I like nicknames, I think they're cute. Filbert asked me if he could call me Belle K, and I said yes, and now Chief and Wendy are calling me Belle K too lmao

My villagers are all calling me Fancy R, thanks to Whitney. There is nothing fancy about me.

As for whether I like them, depends on what the nickname is. I definitely don't like Fancy R, that's for sure.

Most of my villagers call me Pookie. Why Pookie? Well, back when Club Penguin wasn't Club Penguin Island, there were these annoying little panty-wetters name pookies. Basically people roleplaying as babies.

I wish I could change it to "YOU IDIOT" or something like that, but, if anyone asks me to change their catchphrase, that's what it's going to be.

If you hear out the nickname, you can tell hem you don't like it. I hate the ones that are like "A Star" or whatever, with the first letter of your name and then a random word.

If you have high enough friendship, they'll let you pick it out. So I guess then you could just reenter your name.

I don't like most nicknames to be honest. But if they come up with something really nice I'll let them call me it! Right now Julian and Tia call me "teacup".

Oh, that sounds interesting. I didn't know they would let you pick if you had high friendship. Honestly not sure if I've had that many (or any) have high friendship with me. ._.'

i think some nicknames are really cute! there were a couple of times where they've suggested ones like "major s" and "big s" but i'm not a fan of those ones. my villagers are currently calling me "princess" and "cookie"!

I always say yes even if the nickname is really cringe-y, because I find it incredibly hard to say no to my villagers! Currently my villagers are calling me Sugar M and Sweetie, which are nowhere near the worst I've heard.

I like receiving nicknames from villagers. I think it's cute and also when a villager says they heard others calling me a name and ask if they can do so too.

I've only ever chosen a nickname for myself when they ask, not accepted something random.

In general I really like it, because I choose a different one for each villager to call me by; it just adds more individuality to them

Nicknames are nice. Chevre used to call me Mr. E (my mayor's name is E.V.), which I thought was really cute. She then decided to start calling me "E-guy", which isn't that great, but it's still a cute, I suppose. Nicknames could be either really cool or just eh.

i like them if they're things like "muffin" or "shmoopy" or "darling," but not if it's the first letter of my mayor's name plus some random noun (like "c-star")

;;; i was honeybun and then shmoopy and then muffin, but now everyone's calling me c-star and it makes me cringe ;;

It depends on what they give me, stuff like "cookie" is fine, but I often get silly requests like the one Marshal recently came up with (which I turned down): "A".
Just A, nothing else :I

So I usually tell them no & put in my own nickname because they really aren't very original when it comes to thinking up a name lol
