I read the other day that some people make sure to keep their Re-Tail spaces stocked with items all the time (I'm guessing to prevent villagers from changing their homes somehow? Idk). I usually keep my spaces stocked, but not really for any reason. However, the other day, one of the spaces I'd left open had a nice surprise in it - Del left a sloppy bed! It's not part of his house so it must have been randomly part of his inventory. I don't have Marshal or anyone else with sloppy furniture, so it was cool to catalogue that finally.

Anyone else have something like this happen?

I keep the four center space stocked. If my villagers come in and see the spaces empty they'll complain, so I'll put junk from the Able Sisters there. The spaces along the backwall I leave for my villagers to put up they're things. It's slightly annoying because they all seem to have a ton of lovely furniture..the one set I can't stand. So I buy it from Re-Tail, have Cyrus refurbish it, and then mail it back to them. Maximizing villager happiness lol.

Yeah I started just stocking it constantly because they usually buy stuff pretty fast, and villagers kept putting up really terrible ugly furniture I just did not want (like the Robo series ... ew). But I'm starting to think a space or two open might be a good idea.

I keep the first four spaces filled with Brewster's superb coffee beans at 7500 bells a piece. The ones along the back wall are free for the villagers to use as they please, hopefully filling them with sloppy furniture. This holds two purposes: Villagers often ask me for furniture after they've placed a piece in Re-Tail, giving me the ability to buy it and then give it back to said villager. And. Villagers will ping for the first item they see: my coffee beans. Keeps their house clean of random items and makes me bells. c:

The robo series isn't that bad refurbished into the blue color. I hate orange a ton, but actually like it after Cyrus altered it.

At first I always stocked it with fossils to get more money but when I time travelled much I made them clear and got a sloppy chair, bed and carpet. Since then I don't keep it fully stocked. I actually don't care about villager's originality. Villager is villager :D

I don't really care about villager originality either, tbqh. I don't really ever sell my villagers to people (just put them up for free), and I kind of like when they put up furniture they bought from me, haha.

That sounds like a really good idea actually! Maybe I should start stocking coffee beans more often ...

I let them put their items in Re-Tail if they want to. It helps in a way because if they ask for furniture I can just buy it back and their house remains the same as before (generally!). I keep a few spaces for me in the front four though, I use it to sell ores and coffee beans for around 8k - 10k. :)

I stock up my entire Re-Tail with flowers so that villagers don't try to sell their furniture.

I usually add things when my real towns get low in supplies.

In my harvest town I cleared retail out. I was going to exchange money using the 999K trick but got busy.
Went to retail and found a sloppy clock. Next day I found another sloppy item. So I cleared out my other harvest town and found sloppy items.
So far I've found 4 sloppy stereos, sloppy clock, sloppy sink,3 sloppy dresser, sloppy wall, 2 sloppy tables and a sloppy closet. Also found 2 cardboard chairs and a closet.

The mayor in the harvest town doesn't speak to the villager or go in their houses. I sent the mayor from my other town and the villager didn't have a sink. So it's from their stash.
Their houses do it empty which could be a good thing. Yuka house is a mess. She's sick right now and it's a maze to get to her. I think she's a hoarder.

Whoa. That's a lot of sloppy stuff. I ought to clear out spaces in retail more often if they're going to put up that much sloppy stuff. Do you think it's something the game does? Puts up cool non-reorderables for us when our Re-Tails are open?? haha

Just like you, I usually keep Re-Tail stocked for no particular reason.. I only put up furniture that I would like seeing in villager's homes, though. I'm currently trying to get Deirdre to buy the deer scare. :p

I also found a sloppy item in Re-Tail once when I left a space open. I think it was the Sloppy TV. I don't care much for the set, but I might try to get more pieces if I'm really low on money. :)

I usually empty it every once in a while and just let it fill up again. There's been an empty space for a while now, though. I don't usually put my own stuff up, or buy villagers stuff. I do kind of like the empty space, though. Hopefully someone will leave a sloppy.

I don't think I've actually ever found sloppy stuff, but I have gotten quite a few cardboard things.

I usually dump any random furniture I get in Retail and push my villagers up to the closest furniture to them. I don't really give one about how their house looks. That's their problem.

I keep my Re-Tail fully stocked because I want my villagers to be able to change up the looks of their house if they want. Plus, it lets me save things for my husband and friends without it taking up space in storage.

I never really thought of stocking my re-tail to prevent villagers from putting stuff in it! That's a really good idea. But no, I don't really use Re-Tail except for customization and selling things to Reese. I will probably start stocking it so my villagers don't sell things! Merry & Maple's houses are starting to become bare and it is making me sad. :c So I think I will start buying the items that were originally in their houses and sending it to them to get their places full again. c:

I didn't realise people were that bothered about keeping their villagers houses neat/the same. O:

I always put stuff up for sale that I like and want to see around town more often but don't have room for in my houses. And if my villagers are selling something and I don't like it I buy it and sell it to Reese. Otherwise I let them merrily trade with each other. I like to let my villagers have artistic freedom even if they are all clearly colourblind and think Feng Shui is way of preparing fish.

That said when they request a piece of furniture from me I will often find something that fits their house / their person so they do get some nice things.

I've stocked mine with Carnations of all three colors.

Because I'm tired of seeing my villagers put up the new item I just gave them. *eyetwitch

I've never heard of this before. I don't care about the re-tail space. I let the villagers do what they want with it, plus sometimes I get sloppy furniture!
