I don't share a name with any villager, even with all the language variants. I was kinda surprised since my name is somewhat common... there is one with a nickname of my name but I'm never called that, so I don't claim it lol.

Yes, Ellie the elephant and I share our name (well, the short form of it anyway).
I think Ellie is actually pretty cute but I never got a chance to meet her in the game.
I probably wouldn't mind having her at some point but not sure if I'd make her a permanent resident - would need to try her out first.

There are also 3 villagers that share names with 3 of my cats:
Tipper, Simon and Dotty.
I did consider having Tipper on my Island just because it's named Tippervale (after my cat) but she's not really a dreamie of mine so I don't know.
Dotty is quite cute but not really someone I'm obsessed with either. And I don't really care for Simon tbh.
