Do you have any houses in your HHA area?

So I’m reminiscing today about how I actually miss City Folk’s Main Street layout, where it was a big plaza with nook’s sort of being the centerpiece of it all.
In New Leaf, it feels like a huge emphasis is being put on the HHA area (all the lights and the fancy entrance). And if I’m correct; I think you can get houses in there when you have your ds on streetpass and then you happen to pass another person in real life who is also doing the same thing? And then your houses show up in each other’s HHA area.
Now, I think the HHA area is a really cool concept: I like that you can go inside and actually order things from their houses, it’s not like visiting a DA.
But did any of you ever actually use it that way? Were you playing back when it was more popular, and able to get peoples houses in HHA?
I started playing a little later, and I’ve had no luck getting anyone on streetpass. I live in a smaller town and I’ve brought it with me a lot of places. However, I did get a few houses in there after an update (but I think it was from Nintendo themselves?) where I could order a few things I wanted.
I actually like the idea of the HHA but I wish that less emphasis was put on it on Main Street.. or that it was more popular somehow so that it isn’t completely useless to me!
Is there even a way to get more houses in there?

it's rare that i get any houses anymore on streetpass. i used to get them often back when the game was first released but never anymore. as little as they come, i adore the concept of the hha area in new leaf. i love being able to see others houses and also get to order their furniture. it makes it seem like a more social game to me.

I have a handful of houses in mine. Idk how they got there, onviously through street pass but I don’t know where I was, nor do I ever actively try to pass other players. I’ve looked through all the houses and ordered furniture, but the concept is pretty whatever to me. It’s cool, but i don’t think anout it very often.

I loved that you could buy the items in the HHA houses, I think this is actually how I managed to get some of the regional DLC items and fill holes in my catalogue! Granted this is when I was playing on my original town some years ago, but yes I had many houses in there. Probably a full west side and a few in the north & east. It was a fun way to get ideas for room designs, look at custom furniture, and see clever exterior combinations. I think I might only have one or two now.

I have a handful that, shocker, aren't from my own towns. But even when the game was popular, I hardly got any hits. I would get 2, maybe 3 at my Barnes & Noble which was also a Nintendo Zone.

In 2013 I visited the showcase all the time and bought items. I live in Canada and got a lot of streetpass tags from Japanese players.
During that summer I was able to buy all Jingle, regular Halloween and some Japan DLC. Reggie and another Nintendo staff house appeared in my showcase.
It was a good place to buy full sets that weren't customized. I wished Nintendo would allow you to buy custom furniture but it was regular when it arrived.

One of the best things was been able to buy the balloons that players displayed. I was able to buy all the balloons.
Another bonus was been able to buy some of the NA DLC. It was helpful when you missed getting it from the post office.

I have my 2 other towns, my brother's town and some kid named Vinnie I street passed two years ago. All he had was the balloon furniture.

I have a few in my main town since I was playing back then, but I haven't gotten a new one in years. I liked the functionality it had, it's a shame that it sort of died out.

i remember getting some back when nintendo had those wifi spots at home depot and (maybe?) burger king where you would get streetpasses from all over the place, not just that area. i ordered quite a bit of zodiac furniture and other DLC from them

I visited Japan multiple times during the "peak" of ACNL so I have lots of houses in my showcase. :3 I order balloons from them occasionally. These days, I'm lucky if I get one house via Street/SpotPass.

Since I started when it first came out, I was able to pass by a lot of people on streetpass so both my town and my brothers town?s HHA area are just about full other than 2-3 spots left.

^ Same here. Also for me it has some weird role too. Since I have a few more consoles, and there were times I chose to reset certain towns of mine and my firends', I saved their houses in HHA showcase. So I can see my and my friends' old mayors who I miss sometimes. Seeing them/looking at their rooms at the time brings me nostalgia.

My HHA area is practically empty. I just got the game in late 2017 and I didn't actively try to streetpass because I didn't want random surprise villagers when I was trying to keep a spot open for Grizzly. I never take my 3DS anywhere and I don't leave it on and in streetpass mode. The only houses I have in my showcase are from my husband's town and my spare town because we streetpass them purposely for the badge.

Yeah, going around nowadays I never find anything at all! But I?m sure it would have been a lot more fun when the game was more popular and you actually did find other people. My HHA lot is all empty except for three houses!

So before I even discovered this website, those four houses I got after an update were all that I had to look at for designs, and order other items that I didn?t find in Nooks shop! I remember I ordered the entire rococo series out of one room in the house and I thought it was soo cool. I can imagine it would be so much funner with a lot of houses in their to order from!

Wooow really? You streetpassed your own house on a different console and then can visit your old house with old character and your friends stuff too? That?s a pretty genius idea. It would be like visiting your past self and your old friends

Since I started my game so late (start of this year), my HHA is as good as empty. It's pretty sad, because I like the concept and it would be fun just to walk around this street full of pretty houses.
I still take my 3DS everywhere and get the occasional streetpass (rarely though). It's just never from someone who plays ACNL, sadly. The only house I have in my HHA is my bestie's, who started playing around the same time as me. I'm afraid it will remain that way forever.

Since I restarted a few times my town, my HHA was always pretty much empty. Back then I had
a total of 5-8 houses, I never had a full area. Even if I live in a not so small town where you would
at least expect to meet some people with Streetpass, I hardly got any. At some point, I stopped to care for the HHA. Even if it would be cool to be able to see other people's houses, I can't do anything if I don't get any Streetpass...

I?ve had several towns before that I have deleted. On my first file in 2014 I had about fifteen houses, but now I only have two people on my current file. I used to get street passes all the time everywhere I went but now the only person I street pass is my brother.
