Do you have a "vision" for your town?

By that I mean, when you start a new town, do you have an idea of what you want your town to look like, what villagers you want, etc?

I tend to have a more "go-with-the-flow" attitude when it comes to my town. My only plot requirement is that Re-Tail is close to the dock, and while I have some villagers that I really like, I wouldn't put any of them on the level of "dreamie"

I kinda think the randomness and carefree style is part of what makes Animal Crossing so fun! That said, I wouldn't be against planning a detailed town with a dreamie list and all, just for the challenge of it. I just don't have any inspiration for something like that right now!

I didn't have one in mind either until new public work projects were introduce, then I started going for the zen theme and I built things as they went and hopefully it'll turn out okey xD

My first town was random for the most part, and I don't think I want to really replay New Leaf, so any other towns I make will be planned to some extent. Which usually means a vague general idea and a villager list. xD

Since I didn't build much in Skyvale (just paths for running and some stuff like a fountain and a bench... actually, that's it), I want Escarlet to be more structured and modern, with some nature-y spots. The actual execution depends on my villagers' house placement, but I have some ideas already, mostly from running around my map and finding places that would be good for stuff.^^

If I ever get a third copy, I might pick an actual theme.

I liked the zen PWPs when they got suggested so I built them. It wasn't something that I set out to do however.

yes i have a vision for my town and that vision is burning that fat hog truffles near the town tree and eating pulled pork sandwiches with all my other villagers for years to come

I never had any ideas in mind with Balamb, but I suppose it's turned into a suburban town kind of vibe, if anything.

Bunifrey was born out of grief and guilt, so I always knew it would end up as an all-bunny town, with Bun Bun's memorial at the town center. The rainbow bridge concept came later.

yyes!!! with my second town I had planned quite a lot with villagers, pwps and the feel to landscaping and houses. ln my first and main town I just kind of did what I felt like atm

Yes! My town, Nefret, will someday be an Egyptian-inspired town, either villager-wise (Ankha, Lucky, etc) and landscape-wise: egyptian PWPS, torches, sand-like patterns... I won't be able to say my town is finished until at least late February, since that's when the snow melts and, thus, when my town will start looking egyptian (snow isn't very "Egyptian looking lol!).

honestly i had a vision once, but once i started building **** i kinda of let it fly out the window. everything is just placed all horribly an i can't be bothered to changed everything around now. so i just kinda deal with things and add as i go. but looking at it, it kinda reflects me in it's own way and i think that's fine.

so i guess in the end it doesn't matter if you map out your entire town before you build, or if you add as you go, your vision will change and mold itself along the way.

Tadfield is based around my favorite book so I kinda wanted to go with that, but as I am not a very creative person lmao, it failed. Sodapop is supposed to be a bright and colorful, cutesy town but again with my lack of creativity. *weeps*

I do! But unfortunately I never know how to actually get my town to look like my vision. :( It's too much work and planning (which I'm not very good at) but I am still determined to achieve it... Just some other time.

But unfortunately I never know how to actually get my town to look like my vision. :(

That's my problem right now^^; Where do I put what and where the heck do I even start. Doesn't help that most fully designed dream towns I've visited have way too little space to get to places quickly. I can see this ending in another "screw landscaping, I need to run" town. xD

Nah.

I'm still on the very first town I ever made. When I started working on it I didn't know what to expect and couldn't plan. When I started on this site I tried having a theme, but it just didn't feel right. I went back to my old attitude of "I like this, I'm going to have this!" Unless, stuff I like counts as a theme in which case I totally have a theme. I always did like to think of my town as a magical forest, but I never tried very hard to embrace that.

For some odd reason I want to have a town full of pwp, and a whole elaborate path way system made out of bush starts.
