most of my dream villagers have rather warm palettes (coco, elvis, beau, genji, bettina, frita), although there are a few i really wanted that don’t 100% match (snake, ruby, marshal, ankha) o: i did consider replacing ruby with bunnie and marshal with olaf to complete the theme, but i’ve loved them for far too long and it hurts to think about it ;w;
If it is a theme I think it matters more now given the exteriors of houses in New Horizons. I pick my villagers from one personality and the other 2 are who I like in terms of design. I noticed that I did pick Cyd and Static who both have very similar styles. It depends on the person I think.
I do have more or less of an island theme, or set of island themes, but my villager hunt isn't aggressive enough for me to say that my villagers are themed. I don't have a dreamie list to commit to, so I'm taking villagers in and shipping them out as I go along and decide they're not a good fit theme-wise or that I don't care for them.
For instance I have Spike on my island rn. He's a cool guy, but his urban/punk theme, while I enjoy it as part of his unique character, doesn't fit the sleepy harbor/old downtown park kinda feel of my central area, nor does he fit the countryside and forest of the other half of my island. I'll have to let him go at some point.
Not particularly, but in a way.. sort of. Like, I wanted Drago because I love his Chinese aesthetic, but because I couldn't find him I went for Marcel who has a similar house theme.
No, it’s just a mix bag of who I like. There’s 2 aesthetics I love but only one island with 10 slots.
Now if I could have more islands, I would have one full of the cool villagers I love with these aesthetics:
goth, grunge, punk, greaser, etc. The rougher, out there types, with an overall dark/semi-urban theme.
On the other side:
cute, natural, warm colors that are reminiscent of autumn. Villagers with more natural coloring and/or cute appearances with a wood/forest theme.
What I have right now is kind of a mix of both with a harder lean to forest town.
end goal is a natural vibe but there are a few who slip through the cracks and i wanna keep til i get their picture (bam for instance, is a BIG cutie angel pie but will eventually go to someone who has him as a dreamie).
having an end goal keeps me focused on the game but i don't take it too seriously or the game loses the charm and it starts to feel like work. at the end of the day i just wanna wave at a nice elephant.
