Do you have a “style” of villager you want?

Also, in Treehut, I'm really super specific. They gotta be Goose, Octavian, Caroline or Filbert (thou I have Filberts caed) Vesta, Wolfgang (got from New Town) Julian (random move in) Roscoe, Tipper, Rodeo (card) and Drago.

It's these animals because Treehut is a Rune Factory-esq themed town, and I feel these animals best represent monsters that appear thou out the series. Some are boss monsters (Julian and Roscoe as the Thunderbolt from R4, Goose as the cockatrice from RFF, Octavian as the Octo pirate which appears in two games, one of them being R4, ect...) and some are the normal everyday regular monsters (Goose could technically be the Mamadoodle, Drago as the green dragon, Vesta as a wooly, Wolfgang kinda looks like the silver wolf, ect...)

I agree it can be hard when you are attached! I feel like I don't know 10% of the available villagers and should branch out too. I've been thinking about a new game too that I can theme and be more particular about as well. What theme would you go with?

I currently have 3 different theme ideas that I'm fleshing out in my head. I have town names, mayor and alt characters, villagers, PWPs and all that pretty much planned out.

1. Enchanted Forest. I know it's been done, but I want to give it my own spin. The mayor is a druid and uses her magic to make the forest animals talk and take on human qualities so they can be her friends. Therefore, the villagers would all be species that you would normally see in a forest and both the villagers and their houses would need to fit in a natural setting (no wild colors).

2. Nocturnal Gothic Victorian. This is a bit of a mish-mash of some of my favorite things. The color scheme would be blue, purple, black and white to represent the night sky with stars and the time would always be set to night. All of the villagers and their houses would have to fit the color scheme and I would also want the villagers' interiors to be somewhat classic to match the Gothic or Victorian vibe.

3. A journey around the world. I think this theme would be the most difficult to properly plan out, but also the most unique. I would use PWPs like the Pyramid, Stonehenge, and the Moai statue to represent different parts of the world. The villagers would be the ones with the most unique and exotic designs, like Ankha, Clay, and Kabuki.
