Do you gift your villagers expensive items, or rares?

Punchy once had the nerve to call me weird after I refused to swap my Golden Stag for his Common Wall. Apparently only a weirdo would not 'jump at such a great deal'.

I tend to race to the museum or my house when I get a new bug or piece of furniture I want to keep, so if they ask for something in my pockets they nearly always get it as I'm one of those people who don't care what their villagers house looks like. I'm also aiming for the catalogue maniac badge so I quite often have rare items in my pocket they ask for.

I did deliberately give Mallary a Gracie Wagon and Hugh a Gracie Lamp recently though. I decided I wanted to give all my villagers personal Christmas presents so I consulted Thonky's birthday list. I happened to have both items in my house. I'd been keeping them around, but recently decided my house no longer suited them.

When I'm trying to get a villager to change their shirt I often just wrap up whatever I bought that day for the catalogue maniac badge that day and post it to them, so my villagers frequently wear Gracie items. Croque looks seriously amazing in the Iberian and Ringmaster Jackets.

Yes! I give them stuff from Gracie Grace or the island. I like to keep our friendship high

I've only done it once. Merengue gave me her phonograph and she had no music in her house. I had a hard time making her put it back in its old place on the floor so I gifted her a sweets player instead and it looks cute in her house. :3 other than that, I keep my villagers houses original. LOL

once i unlock gracie, i'll be giving them her items a lot! i'd probably gift them anything as long as i can re-order it. i'm planning to give some gold furniture to ankha as well because it would look amazing in her house and a scarab beetle too

I was giving Hamlet the Sloppy series because he has the wall and floor of that series and no sooner did I get 4 pieces in his house, he started replacing 2 of them with clothes. Argh!!!! I tried a second time, he did it again. I love him to death, but his house is going to have to stay the way he likes it I guess.

Once I got Savannah in a streetpass and her house was atrocious. I tried so HARD to turn it back to its original beauty and all she did was try to resell the items back to me and changed her room back into the hodgepodge/sparce room she came with. lol

Like seriously, I gave Whitney a hammerhead shark and she put it right in the middle of her room...

I have all my villagers houses semi worked out haha! I will spoil quite a few of them, Chief will get Sloppy Items, Merengue will get Sweets furniture, Diana will get more Mermaid furniture etc, but if they have nice houses to begin with I try not to change too much lol!

Also not trying to change anyones houses much until I get all my dreamies and fill up Retail so they'll stop selling absolutely everything they own in there (here's looking at you Skye!)

I don't like their decorating skills lol so no I can't they make me cringe when I see they took something out especially when it was so perfect and looked good how it was

Also one time in my first town I gave Sally the tissue box. She was happy bc it was rare or whatever and then one day I visited and she said I could have anything, so I chose to get tissue box back. She wouldn't let me have it back!! LOL i guess it was rude of me to try and get it back but still... I don't want to mess up their house

I did once with Merry. It didn't even last one day. She had replaced it with something else. I was so pissed off like do you know how much that cost really Merry really. ugh.
Chrissy has a few mermaid items that her old mayor gave her. She still has them which is good. They look nice in her house.

Meh, I give villagers things that match their personality, like giving a peppy something fun, and a jock exercise equipment.
