Do you get less star fragments when wishing on stars at someone else's island?

Sorry if this was asked before, I did a search and couldn't find anything.

I had a meteor shower last night and my wife and I wished on 200+ stars. Today, I picked up about 30+ star fragments and she only ended up with around maybe 20. I told her she should check every now and then because they constantly show up on the beach, but she hasn't seen anything in hours. Is the amount nerfed when you're not on your own island or just bad luck?

The first meteor shower I experienced was on my own, and to your point, I feel like I got 30+. After visiting a couple different islands, the max came to 20, I believe. I want to say the beach can only hold x amount of items along the shore, which causes fragments to pop up in places you've already searched.

Tl;dr: Yes, I think you get less from other islands than from your own.
