I'm talking strictly about the cards here. Do you guys have a complete collection? No cards at all, just your faves, or are you still trying to actively complete your collection?
I have the complete collection of cards (series 1-4, WA, and Sanrio). I started and completed it soon after the WA update came out, in just a few months (maybe 3). Thank goodness there was a surge of traders because of the update or else it might've taken me a century to complete lol. I feel like collecting the cards are a lot harder now for people. What were your experiences with getting your collection?
I just got into the game about a month ago, so I've only purchased a few packs from Amazon. I'm a long way off from completing even one of the series, much less all of them, but I'd like to eventually. It seems like it will take a lot of money though.
I have the complete collection of cards (Sanrio, Welcome Amiibo, and Series 1-4). I completed the card collection within a few months after the Welcome Amiibo update.
I had a lot of fun searching for and obtaining cards for my collection. My family and friends knew exactly what Animal Crossing gifts to surprise me with that year.
Umm, I'm not sure which option of the pole is my case.
My collection is not complete in terms of any and all the cards from S1-4 to Sanrio.
But I'm not trying to complete that way either.
I don't own my favs' cards but it's not that I don't collect cards.
I know I must be an outlier here, but I don't want villagers who come from scanning the cards. It feels like I'm having the clone and makes me awkward. So I only wanted the cards of those villagers who'd never show up naturally in the game, aka 50 WA cards and Sanrio cards. In that sense, my collection is complete to me.
I've ordered some packs and unboxed them, but it's not something i want to invest my money into long term, as I feel like i'll abandon them once switch comes out (even if theyre used in that game, I have this amazing community that I can purchase certain rv items or get villagers from). It is fun to open packs though, so i'll probably still order some here and there
I own a complete set of Series 1-4, including the misprint Tommy card and that one JP exclusive KK card, but alas I missed out on the timeframe to get the WA/Sanrio cards. Sigh! But fortunately I discovered TBT and now I can get those items without spending an arm & a leg getting them.
I recently got into it (bought a few packs back when HHD came out, but nothing too crazy). I don't plan on completing any sets, just pick up my favorites through the trading community here. I absolutely love them as a collectible, and I have no doubt they'll be implemented into the Switch version
I have a couple of packs! I’d eventually like to collect all of my favourite villagers and NPCs, and maybe complete the set one day, but I’m not in any rush really.
I don't really collect the cards at all. I finally broke down and bought Grizzly's card because he was my one and only dreamy. I had played the game for nearly a year without being able to obtain him otherwise. I also picked up a few Welcome Amiibo RV cards at the same time so I could order furniture from them.
I hope to not have to buy too many more cards, but I will purchase a few for my second town if it becomes necessary. I'm pretty sure there are some RV cards at least that I will want, if I can find them.
When they came out I was trying to get my dreamies cards and most of the RV cards I wanted. However the store I bought them at and the only place I found them in person never stocked them enough, that and my lack of money at the time. I don't have any of my dreamies cards, I don't have all the RV cards I want, and by the time I was allowed to order stuff online, the Sanrio cards were 200+for an opened pack. Not only that, but personally I find the inflated prices on packs to be ridiculous and money not well spent. Even a single card is pricey.
So as much as I wanted to complete my collection, it's very hard, near impossible I'd say. Good thing there's communities like TBT that have ReTail boards and such
Well, I wouldn't say that I'm trying to complete it but more of "how many cards can I get" mindset. I was looking forward to get more but it's a rarity to see them in stores and I'm not counting shopping online (not like I'm gonna shell out hundreds of dollars...). So yeah, it's sad not to see them in stores anymore and I have a feeling Nintendo won't restock them anytime soon despite the near release of AC Switch.
To save time, effort, and TBT I acquired some of my dream villagers' amiibo cards. It would have been nice to collect all of them just to do so, but I got into it late in the cycle, most places had stopped selling packs, and some individual villagers' cards were already expensive.
I would love to have at least a semi-full collection but the packs are just too hard to come by these days. I have a handful from 1-4 that I bought around the release of HHD, a few of my faves I?ve traded for or bought individually from others, and an ?off brand? Sanrio set from a friend. But I would love to have a legitimate collection!
So here?s hoping they re-release the card packs so they?re more widely available once the new title is out~
I wish I had all WA cards but I just had the time to buy 2 packs before they vanished from my local stores and I don't really have money to spend on those.
I have always loved collecting, the fact that it is about something I love makes want to collect it more! I certainly would not mind having them all one day as keepsakes. As of now I have all the Sanrio villagers, all promos, and then one RV card with some loose series 1-4 cards. If I decide to get them on a limb one day, I think I will try to find complete sets!
My family bought quite a few packs from series 1-4, but I couldn't get all of them in time. The only store that did sell them for awhile after they started disappearing and getting pricey was Toys R Us, but they closed a long time ago. I wish they didn't, but there was nothing I could do, but I did get a few dreamies cards such as Mitzi. So, I'd say I'm pretty happy right now and like a couple other people said, I prefer to get my villagers from in game and not from the cards.
I have the complete collection. Started collecting Series 1 when the cards got released for HHD. Series 1 took the longest to complete with the cards been new and sold out. Series 2 thru Welcome Amiibo were easier to collect. Trading cards on TBT and buying single cards on amazon helped complete the collection fast.
Nintendo finally released the Welcome Amiibo Set the right way. Buy a full box and the collection got completed with 10 extras.
In Japan players were able to buy a full box for Series 1 thru Welcome Amiibo to complete their collections. Not sure why it took so long for NA.
Originally, I planned to collect amiibo cards, however, I never really got into collecting them. Not only
because it's for sure a pretty expensive hobby, but also because it got hard to get certain cards.
It used to be that everytime I would go to target (which was a lot because I live across from one), I would buy a pack. But I haven't bought any packs in a very long time. I feel like I shouldn't buy them on amazon either because they're quite expensive and I rarely used them when I was collecting them. I want more, but I just can't justify buying them.
