i dont really have a interesting backstory for my mayor but i created a background for him. he comes from a rich family and decides to move out and live on his own. buying his own house and renovate to look like a place fit for a king because why not when u have that kind of money? u can easily tell he's rich from his rooms. Judy(my other human villager), his sister, was asked to come live in his town. Judy request was to have the area surrounding her house to look like a forest, or a mini one at least. and that was what the mayor did because he just loves his sister so much.
I haven't ever done this in the past with any of my old towns. However, since I'm trying to tell a story with the theme of my new town, I'm coming up with backstories for all of my human villagers. One's the mayor, one's a doctor, one is a schoolmarm/librarian, and one is a priest. I won't go into further detail because I'm still working on everything, but they've all got their little backstories and personalities.
Ehh, not really. I only have personalities so far. The mayor is accomplished, kind, and likes to create stuff whether it be QR codes or PWPs. The other human, Andrea, is my QR mule. I imagine her to be reluctant of her role and because of this, she's more crass and direct in letters. Although, the villagers have described her to be a "good listener". lol
Only my mayor actually does. The other human villagers has just enough backstory for a supporting character. The town itself also has a tiny backstory but its actual story is getting written with current mayor. And for my mayor's story, it was effected by happenings in my life at the time I started to create it. So consists a lot of metaphors and references of real life elements for that time. The whole idea was surrounding around an abusive relationship and escapist feelings, then psychological and emotional development of cruel, unstable, manpulative and hurt mayor/dictator, and then upon solving that problem; eerie happenings in town and unsolved issues of past. Idk, it's not like I sit and thought like "I'll make a story", it kinda created itself when I was playing the game, running around in town and doing repetetive tasks
The short version of my town's story is that my town, Latibule, is a spirit forest. So it's my headcannon that all the animals are spirits that reside there. And my Mayor is a witch who has moved there due to mysterious circumstances. She takes it upon herself to appease the spirits so that they don't get angered. My second character is also a witch and she focuses on looking after the plants and nature in the forest
I do. It's a bit of a whacky situation for the three of my characters but, yeah. My mayor is a daughter of a rich man who had enough money to supply her anything she wants, that gave her a power trip and a loose sense of morality literally tossing money to solve her problems. She was sent to serve the military to be disciplined except it made few more of her screws loose. She was adept with her tasks minus her egoistic and bossy attitude. She met Elroy there as well and was teased by her constantly until this very specific mission which caused an accident and got Elroy's face burnt fully. This was the first time she felt genuine guilt and concern. (She was an indirect cause to this and realized it.) She used money to patch things up but still haunts her for a long time. She moved to the town of Somnus which is actually given by her father to recover from her trauma (named synonymously with her as well). She started to be more responsible and mellowed out but still had the "money can solve everything" mindset. She is greatly fond of Mitzi and flowers.
Elroy on the other hand, he's somewhat older than the mayor but has low-self esteem issues. A kind person, good at cooking and gardening and likes to help others. Had to join the military to help his family. He had an accident that burnt his face and was indirectly caused by Dormire and lowkey hated her for it but couldn't bring to voice it out. He disappeared for a year to recover (was funded fully by her though) and was asked to join and live in Somnus. He was very reluctant but joined after months of convincing (and bribery). He works as a gardener and tends to the town's flowers (and in his home) diligently. His accident and his stay in his military however, affected him greatly and is hiding a secret under his basement that no one should know.
He wears a gasmask to hide his face out of fear (from being judged).
Then, Amagi. He's a troubled novelist who just winded up to live in Somnus searching for inspiration. Out of the two, he's the only sane person in the town and actually have healthy habits. Dormire loves to creep up and observe him because he was her first human neighbor. He is a reference also to a Japanese movie I love the most named "Prismatic", a sequel to the Japanese play "LENS". (Main character is Amagi Keitarou). His north room has zodiac bobbleheads to reference the year of his actor's birthday, movie and play release date etc.
tl;dr: Two troubled individuals, one sane individual.
You think that's bad? My mom didn't even take me to doctors when I had a crayon wedged up my nose. She even had the audacity to ask, in a letter, if it was still up there.
i wouldnt really call it a ?backstory? moreso as a very elaborate layout. like my mayors town is the modern house and all the rooms are set up to be something other than a room. the ?living room? has vending machines and bulliten boards and dog ornaments to give the feeling of it being a lobbyish type room but with a homey feel to it since it is the mayors actual house. to the left is the mayors office where i have one of the mannequins dressed as a ?secretary? and theres storage bins and the copy machine and desks and a couch where ?villagers can complain or address issues within the town? and theres a little candy dish so they can take a piece of candy home with them. and theres a hammock and official looking shirts hanging on the wall for when mayoring gets too hectic. and theres a bookcase and a briefcase and next to the secretarys desk is another bulliten board with a picture of adam sandler from the waterboy on it LOL. then in the back room i have it set as a ?back yard? with the swimming pool, compact car, ball, bicycle, scooter, sprinkler, swinging chairs and barbecue and bird feeder. then the right room is a ?recreation/night school? where i have another mannequin dressed as a teacher with the chalkboard and whiteboard set for math and theres a magazine rack for villagers to pick up brochures on things like ?how to prevent the flu? etc. and theres three different types of computers to make it like a cute lil access lab for those villagers who cant afford internet. then theres a couch and a karaoke machine and the 3ds, virtual boy and wii u for villagers to have a place to hangout on saturday nights. my basement is like a home theater with the third mannequin dressed as an usher and i have a mini little snack bar and the reel to reel, effects rack and server to make it seem more realistic. with the box sofa customized to red as the theater seats. then upstairs is the mayors room and its all sleek set with the cityscape wallpaper to give it a type of penthouse feel. ive got the aurora screens and two couches, facing each other to make it seem more like a penthouse, my aluminum breifcase in a display case to make it like im some ridiculously rich mayor, and then i have my fourth mannequin dressed as a member from kpop group bts, namjoon, and i made it look like hes writting/producing on the laptop on the coffee table with his lyric book (fourth leaf clover) next to him. i take a lot of pride in my mayors house.
but i also share my ds with my 6 year old nephew and my 27 year old sister. my sisters house is practically all purple and traditional in some rooms but her main room is mermaid as well as the outside of her house. my nephews is the candy outside and literally a trainwreck on the inside but hey, i let him do what he wants as long as he doesnt run on my flowers.
my fourth playable character is an oc i made five years ago named Quinn and theyre a glamourous rich boy also with makeup and beauty carts with pink and gold and regal and princess and gorgeous sets bc he should expect No Less.
but regarding a backstory for my characters and my villagers, pinky used to date flora, they were madly in love and pinky even had floras pic next to their bed but then pinky left town for a long time and came back with all the feelings gone. well, pinky and whitney really hit it off and they got really close and started dating and i guess flora picked up on that and started wearing clothes just like whitney, sending letters from the same stationery as whitney etc. pinky was never mean to flora after that but pinky could tell flora still had feelings which was upsetting. especially once marina moved in and pinky and whitney decided to have a third. marina is cute and shy but whtiney and pinky are nice and include her in everything. its awkward for whitney and flora since they used to be friends but whitney understands that as a mayor pinky still has a duty to do. whitney and wolfgang are cousins but pinky and wolfgang are legit best friends as well as wolfgang and sparro are best friends. beardo is my sisters bf.
I don't really feel like writing the full backstory (I should really save it somewhere), so I'll just give a summary.
Taiga is a town located on a large Arctic island right between a fault line. It has been inhabited since ancient times and has historically been a small fishing village. During the medieval era it was a flourishing trading outpost for various different powers. The island was invaded often due to its strategic location. A few centuries ago, Taiga was hit by an earthquake, destroying most of the city. The site remained relatively uninhabited for hundreds of years until oil was discovered beneath the surface. Within a few decades, the once dead city was transformed into a vibrant metropolis with a thriving tourism and technology industry. Today the city is a hub of robotics and is looking toward a bright future.
I don't currently have a backstory for my mayor. She's just a sort of exaggerated and idealized version of myself. I'm planning on creating a second character soon and he'll probably have more of a backstory as I really get into developing him further. Right now, he's just a poor rice farmer who exists only in my head.
My main town doesn't have a theme so I think that's part of the reason my mayor doesn't have a backstory. I've just been going with the flow. But I do have several ideas for themed towns. If I ever get around to creating them, those characters will all have backstories.
my mayor was made as a random character, with the name asher coming from a quick search history of "sexiest guy names" lmao. this was back in 2013 though, and now asher developed into more like my favorite oc. i mean,, he has a full on backstory but its so long in short tho he kinda just moved into the town to get a new start.
i made his boyfriend just recently but haven't done anything with him yet lol.
the town of amorite is just an old town, mostly made of stone, where people often come to vacation. i like to think that when they forced asher to be mayor, he remade the town into a nice place to relax. i got the name amorite by looking up 'old city names.' but i guess amorite is some kind of biblical culture or something. it adds some character to my town!
