Do Items Disappear?

Okay, so the other day i left 2 hats and 2 shirts on my plaza for people to use in my dream town, and now they are gone? i don't see them in my closet, and i don't think I've had anybody over since then

It's possible that they're gone if you left them too close to where Katrina and Redd set up their tents.If you have a police station your items should show up there at some point in the future.

oh... i left them almost exactly where redd and katrina sit and after i put them there i time traveled a few days so thats probably why they're gone. oops.
