Do Inclines Remove Paths Beneath Them?

Would anyone know? I’m talking about inclines where you can see underneath the steps such as the log ones. Would it always be grass underneath them or if you put a path before construction, will it stay so that you can see the brick / wood underneath the steps?

I'm pretty sure it's always grass. I put paths down to position them properly and they disappear once the incline is built.

you can put the paths, somewhat back in after they're fully in place, as dragonair said they do get removed initially.
