Just wanna know cause rocks always manages to be located right in the middle of a planned path

I'm pretty sure they don't because I've had maps where I've been shocked at how many rocks there were so I must've had less before. But I'm not 100% sure

No. The more ponds you have= less rocks and vice versa. Hope that clears things up :)

3 ponds is the average amount. You'll end up with 5 rocks or less ^^

So that means rocks are your friend! Ponds are your true enemy, because they take up more space than rocks do.

I think it's completely random and there is no way to explain rocks and ponds. I've had a town where I just could not believe how many rocks I had and then there were towns with a lot less.

Rocks are a bigger pain in my opinion because they are spread out all over the place whereas one or two ponds isn't that hard to work around. I don't know if there is a maximum number of rocks, but the minimum is 4 with there always being at least one rock near the train station, Re-tail, the town hall, and the town plaza.

rocks aren't actually random at all! the amount of rocks you have depends on how many non-river and non-beach acres you have.
here's my towns acres:

i have 6 non-river and non-beach acres (waterfall, grass, town hall, train station, plaza and re-tail), so I have a total of 6 rocks. even if these acres were switched around, or if the grass acre was changed into a pond acre, i would still have the same amount of rocks. (also the waterfall i'm talking about here is the one at the start of the river/the cliffs, not the one that flows into the ocean)
the rocks are also in the extact same space on every individual acre. so if you had the train station with the pond, the rock would be 4 spaces away from the pond on the left. i don't, so it's closer to the river.

I have a rock between my river (waterfall) on acre C-5 and my beach on acre D-5, so I don't think this is really true. I have 8 rocks and my river goes though 6 non-beach acres, so there are only two free acres without any landmarks or beaches in my town, so even though my train station comes with 2 rocks, there is still one more in my town than your theory would suggest.

Wait... Are you saying that the waterfall at the beginning of the river does not count as a river acre? I guess it would make sense then.

that's... weird. there shouldn't ever be a rock between your river and your beach, is it a fake? i do know of the 2 rock train station though, that's the one with the rock in front of the message board thingy (or it should be, there's only 3 train station acres.).
edit: wait, nevermind i thought you were talking about the waterfall that flows into the ocean. and yeah, i don't count it a river acre (the ocean waterfall i count as a beach acre, however)

It's between the waterfall at the start of the river and the beach.

okay, yeah that's a perfectly acceptable rock, i probably should've been more clear with my terms haha.

Wow. That's very interesting. I'd like to see some other people confirm that. So basically, the fabled "clean acre" with no river, no rocks, no buildings, and no beach is as real as fairies, unicorns, and mermaids? That stinks. :(
