So as I’m sure you all know, there is a new update coming out where you can dive! How do you feel about there not being a separate category for the animals that you can get while diving (like there was in New Leaf). I kind of wish there was a separate category so I could see how many animals I need to catch, but maybe I’m just nitpicking on the details. What are your thoughts on it?

By "category", you mean a separate page on the critterpedia? Because we haven't even seen the critterpedia list yet, and pretty sure they would separate it because that would be confusing.
Or do you mean a separated dedicated section for them in the museum? Personally, I don't mind. What matters is the critterpedia list since it's the checklist and shows which critters have been donated or not.

has there been any data-mining to suggest there won't be a separate museum section for diving, even if it's only a room that branches off from the pre-existing fish ones? in NL, the diving creatures were included in the fishing exhibit but they did have their own dedicated room so i don't see why it wouldn't be the same here.
I think it seems really logical that the diving creatures would go along with the other fish! ^^ I think it'd be cute if they added maybe a tidepool area but for some sea life, it'd be kind of odd to add a new environment when they share one with species that already have the same habitat in the museum already. I'm sooo excited for the update though!! I really love the aquarium area and I just have to imagine anything they add is going to be just as lovely as what's already there *u*

true, i was just going off the thread i read a while back about them finding files or w/e for museum stuff and a diving section of the encylopedia.
I'm fine with no separate museum section. We didn't need to spend a day "upgrading" it again for something like this. And there's not really room for any new tanks in the fish section.
It'll most definitely have it's own section in the critterpedia though given the fish category is tied to the golden rod recipe.

as long as there’s a separate critterpedia page, i don’t really care about a separate museum exhibit - the museum is gorgeous and huge enough as it is and i’m content with it. i’m only hoping for a separate critterpedia page as it’ll make it easier for me to keep track of stuff aha ;w;
