So, I'm currently hunting down the spiny lobster, umbrella octopus and Venus' flower basket and every time I pull up a mantis shrimp, I get a nasty shiver down my spine because grabbing one of these things is not safe at all for a human. These things can literally split your finger open or leave extremely painful wounds due to how powerful their 'punches' are...

I know it is just a game, and doesn't need to be realistic, but uuughhh... XD

I mean, it's still more realistic then fishing up a whale shark at least 😂

Though, now that I think about it... I hope whatever tank they're kept in when you place them is extra tough! Those things can break glass.

Or casually placing up to 40 of them in our pockets.
Then transferring up to 1600 of them into our storage.
...But GOD FORBID we try and put a DIY recipe card or a flower in there 😝

Realism has never really been Animal Crossing's strong suit, lol.

Fun fact! If you display your mantis shrimp and then interact with it, the mantis shrimp will literally punch its tank and cause the glass to crack! D:

LMAO!

The first time I caught one I said the same thing to my husband and kids!

I cringe when I get one!

To be fair, the characters regularly just hold sharks that are definitely alive so they're probably immortal.
