[Discussion] Potential to allow more villagers on your island

I've heard rumors about the potential to allow us 12 to 15 villagers on our islands. Rumors are rumors, but how would you feel about this?

I personally already would like if we had 10 personalities to allow for uniqueness between villagers. Subtypes and hobbies are getting there, but there's still a lot of repetition.

I'd assume it was only optional, but I'd still be concerned with some aspect of the game being "locked out" from people who choose not to have the maximum amount of villagers. There's also concerns of space, so I personally wouldn't care for the possibility. But I definitely have friends who wish they could have more villagers.

I'm a big fan of 1 slot per personality, having like 15 sounds like horror to me with 8 personalities.

I'd be fine with a raise as long as it's optional. Like 10 is the soft limit that stops random move-ins, but 20 could be the hard limit.

I already have a hard time keeping up with my current ten tbh- but it would also give me more space for the other villagers I want!
I feel like my opinion on this changes every time, but I really wouldn't mind it. I think an addition of two new personality types would be nice as well~

I would be SO happy. AC is all about the villagers to me, can’t believe they didn’t increase the limit when my island is HUGE compared to my NL town. Feels like I’m kinda forced into landscaping a lot just so things don’t feel empty. And my current villagers are all over the map, not clustered together or anything.

But I agree, 10 should be a soft cap so nobody has to have extra, with the option of placing 2-4 additional plots for those who prefer more bustle.

Interesting! I do feel like landscaping is pushed more than other aspects of the game, since it is the new big thing.
On the flipside, I feel like I have barely any room for villagers with what landscaping I'm planning and what other non-residential buildings I'm anticipating.

I think the ability should be there for those who want it, but I personally might not do it. I love having villagers, but I worry I’d get sick of the multiple personalities. If I had even 3 pop stars, I’d run far away.

I would be thrilled if they did it!
I have so many villagers that I love but can't currently have because I want to have all the personalities.
I agree though that it should be optional just as it is with creating multiple players.
Is there a source for this rumor though?

I love the decorating aspect but to me it's always been about the villagers. Otherwise it's like like any other life simulation game.

15 would be nice just like gamecube. I'd love more villagers since there's so many that I like; my island feels kind of dead with just 10 anyway.

I think letting it be optional would be nice. I don't have a lot of space planned out for more villager houses, but would still really like some more on my island.

i mean if you have to talk to tom for more plots then i think we should have a higher limit, some people could choose to build the max amount of houses for the max amount of villagers and others could keep their ten and just not put down any more plots

I'd love to have more. I think being able to choose to have up to 5 more villagers would be a good cap.

12 or 14 would be the right number for me, that way I can have an even number of girls and guys on my island, too.
But I'm not that unhappy with ten villagers, really.

Yeah, the cap should go back up to 15 villagers.

With the size of the map, 12 feels like the right number to me. I'm not opposed to 15, but finding room for 5 more plots + new stores that may be coming could be tricky.

I would be okay if we could allow 12 though, my area I made for my neighbors has a lot of open space left and I would be interested I adding Tangy and Sly to my island. Maybe Wolfgang/Chief as a 13th. 15 is a bit much though.

I prefer 12 villagers. Any more than that seems kinda cramped
