First of all, I'll start by saying that the guide is really well-presented and I love the design of it. It does have a few flaws and some slight errors, but nothing that isn't easy enough to spot for yourself - it's been really useful for me for things like Label's Fashion Checks, checking what stock certain NPCs have, being able to see every villager's interior, etc etc.

Back when the April update was announced and released, they assured people that the guide would be updated digitally for everyone who has it so that the information does not go out of date with new Patches, and new mechanics can be explained in good detail (such as the addition of Artwork). It's been four months now, and there hasn't been a single update from them. The guide was not cheap, and considering most of the information was out there for the Paintings and the Statues only a few days after the release, I can't understand why they still haven't put together a PDF.

Since then, we've had two more updates (July-August), and the guide is only becoming more and more outdated. I guess this is why people just stick to the Internet for game information.

It's pretty outrageous. There was a statement it would be updated digitally and now it's antiquated. I had the same concern and thought the digital updates would be a decent solution but there is no update!!!! Three patches later too!!!

Maybe they will updated when the last update is given to it? It hard to Make a PDF if the Game is update every 4 weeks or so.

I mean... it takes a LOT of time to typeset pages with the same layout that's in the official companion guide, and they are also super backed up on shipping right now. It's not entirely excusable, but companion guides are first and foremost a collectors item or aesthetic thing more than they are practical nowadays.

I almost got this, but then everything was starting to get canceled back in March, so I didn't get it. Looks like I ended up making the correct decision!

There are PDFs for the updates, actually! You just have to scan the QR code for the calendar to access them, and they never talked about it anywhere, and they didn't even cover all the updates when I checked sometime recently. The only reason I even found out about them was because someone on Reddit was having trouble printing them, which might even be a universal problem due to how they saved the images, but I haven't tried it myself.

TBH I'd really love to know what the situation is, how much is actually their fault, or if at least part of it is Nintendo just not communicating with them. Like, you'd think they'd get this info in advance and be able to get the update guides released with the updates, or at least shortly afterwards.
