I was excited for Halloween and bought about 20 pieces of candy and got most of the DIY recipes in advance. When the event started, I went to Jack and gave him a couple of pieces of candy to get his outfit and reactions and then went around scaring villagers for more candy. I then got the rest of the spooky DIY recipes and items from my villagers and some lollipops to give to Jack. I got the spooky carriage, the recipe for it, and the spooky wand recipe. Then I gave Jack another lollipop and he gave me another Jack's face. I thought I got unlucky RNG, so I got another lollipop and traded it to him and got another Jack's face, and then another. Meanwhile, my villagers started giving me pumpkins. I checked to see if I already got everything from the event and sure enough I did. I don't think it took me more than 15 minutes to get everything before I started wasting my time getting extra Jack's faces. I still have about 20 candy left and wonder why I wasted my time buying so much of it when I clearly didn't need it. I can't believe that's all there is to Halloween.

Anyone else feel like Halloween was a letdown?

Sorry you feel this way. I thought it was pretty fun. I can't remember if there was more to this than the previous Animal Crossing games. I do miss the prank pumpkin heads for when you didn't hand out candy to villagers. I enjoyed it.

I liked that it didn't take me a ton of time like it did in the last game.

I think having the content spread throughout the month probably takes some getting used to for a lot of people.

I am sorry that you were disappointed though! I know what a bummer that can be.

For me, it was the new costumes that I found disappointing. They could have done some really cool formal and gothic stuff. I also wish the horns and wings looked real instead of the obvious headband/plastic look.

I ended up spending about 3 hours on the event because I have multiple characters and only one of them had already obtained all the recipes that aren't exclusive to the 31st. I had fun until I realized how long it was taking to get all the recipes for my alts.
But also the fact Jack only has 3 rewards from the lollipops is pretty disappointing.

I really enjoyed it :) It’s pretty much the same as previous entries of AC, so I wasn’t expecting something too different. I really liked how villagers dress up differently this time (and not simply copying Jack).

It was nice, even though there wasn't that much.
At least I did get to spend Halloween on a game though, so that's fair.

I loved it! It was so much fun interacting with all the villagers, handing them out candy, and I was not expecting Jack to sound the way he did. 😅

Honestly, I find it difficult to understand how people think it wasn't enough content? We got a small cutscene, they decked out the resident services with decorations, new music, all the villagers and everyone else dressed up in costumes and we got a bunch of new DIYS/Items that are very well done. I mean, that carriage is gorgeous! Oh and two new emotes as a bonus.

Seems like a lot of great stuff for a holiday event to me! 🎃 🖤

Am I the only one that agrees with the OP?

The Halloween Event I feel was lacking, with such a small pool of exclusives prizes & nothing else to do, it's kind of a bummer. We don't scare the animals anymore, they don't play games with us, there's no scavenger hunt for Jack anymore after he randomly teleported (thou this may be so he doesn't appear on like a single tile or some really weird place since we can terraform now and the scavenger hunt does get annoying at times). Sure the animals prank us but the pranks are so mild. They don't even give us trash anymore, they just change our facepaint oooh noooo🙄 They even give us a mirror to change back like c'mon, these pranks are so watered down and wussy-ish.

I enjoyed the event until I realized I got everythin, then it got boring real fast. Now I have a bunch of spare items that idk what to do with. I would have liked more walling, floors and rugs but the animals kept giving me waaaaaaay too many pumpkins that I have too many now.

I get what you're saying...but, I was personally kind of happy that it was easy to get everything. I only just got home at 9pm today, and started playing at about 9:30. I also didn't want to waste the entire remainder of my night grinding for the items. So, yeah...it was a relief for me. I enjoyed it for what it was, and I can move on with other things now. If it was challenging to get the items, then those 4 hours I lost between 5pm and 9pm would have been hard for me to makeup.

This is certainly a fun event for me!

I like the "trick" part when you refused to hand out candies to your villagers. Dressing up as Jack asking for candy is really hilarious. Scaring and fooling around with your villagers is fun.

They made it easy to get the exclusive recipes by getting some of them before the event. You really don't have to spend hours. More importantly, we enjoyed the spirit of Halloween. :)

I was disappointed that the carriage is just another lantern.

Most of the Spooky set are lanterns.

No furniture. :-/

i’m sorry to hear that you were disappointed! you spent all month preparing for it and so i can definitely understand where you’re coming from and your feelings are perfectly valid!

personally, i honestly liked the event a lot and part of why i liked it so much is the same reason why you weren’t really a fan of it; it was short. granted, i found myself feeling a bit overwhelmed today; i don’t like loads of things occurring on the same day and with part 2 of tbt’s event, halloween and having plans to hang out with a friend all happening today + around the same time, my brain was on overdrive a bit with trying to hunt for virtual eggs, obtaining everything that halloween had to offer while still enjoying it and making sure that i didn’t embarrass myself in front of my friend.

halloween being as short and uncomplicated as it was honestly helped me out a bit; i was done in about half an hour which allowed my mind to stop racing so that i could mellow out a bit. still, i can understand your disappointment; dedicating a whole month to preparing for an event only for it to last not even an hour can be upsetting and you’re completely valid in feeling that way and i hope that you’ll enjoy the future events more! c’:

I actually liked that it didn't take too long to do everything. Besides my player, I had to help my youngest two kids play and that took awhile. I think since the game is for all ages, they take that into account, as well as the fact that many people are typically busy on Halloween. So not drawing it out too long really helps.

I actually enjoyed the fact that it didn't take too long!! I had other plans for hanging out with friends halloween night and it was nice being able to quickly hop on and play the halloween event without feeling like I was missing out on anything, either on my island or in real life :)
