Disappearing villager furniture PSA

Sally moved in July 30. I started gifting her iron wall lamps and just got her photo today, but I suspect that may have come at a cost...

Has this happened to anyone else? If so then iron wall lamps are definitely not a safe gift. It hasn’t even been 32 days and I’d thought that as long as I stayed under that number there was no risk of it affecting the home. But on August 26 there were already missing items from the dresser and low table (the cutting board subsequently disappeared).

Not sure whether I should wait and see if these items eventually return or try to regift them? But I wouldn’t be able to control the placement then. Bummed since her home now looks more like my jock starter’s.

ETA - sorry, no idea why the photos are appearing upside down, they look fine on the photos app from my phone.

Even though they won't display wall items you gift, there is a limit of how many items they can "store" before they delete displayed items. You can try regifting the thing things you want her to have, but it is a tough slog, from what I understand.

I've worried about this, so I've only been gifting coconuts to get photos and give clothing as gifts.

Does the wrapped foreign fruit work again? I thought that was made void last update (I've been doing the iron lamp thing too but just for a couple days)

And note it is not just iron wall lamps, all furniture given to a villager, whether displayed or not, will go toward filling their inventory, potentially causing original furniture to disappear.

Yeah, iron wall lamps aren't safe if it's a villager whose house you want to keep in pristine condition. Wrapped foreign fruits still count to raise friendship, however, you need to give them something that sells for over 750 bells in person for a chance to get a photo. I can confirm the fruit stack method (full inventory, give them a piece of fruit from a stack so your inventory will still be full afterward) still works, as I obtained Static's photo in the mail this morning after using it.

Yah, I read about that and have tried to warn people when I see they mention giving the wall lamps. But they've been a default gift for so long for so many people I don't think most realize they're risky

As far as I know, exotic fruit (and coconuts) still work well and are risk free. And the stack method is great for getting pictures!
